Perfectly located hotel in Maurach, just a 5 minute walk from the beautiful Achensee lake. |The rooms are clean and spacious with an enclosed balcony with a couch and nice view (our room was overlooking the quiet main road and the lake). The beds and pillows are a bit too soft for my liking and there's no air con but we slept with the window open and we slept well (plus it wasn't really that hot even if it was August!).|The breakfast is served on the 1st floor and is continental, serving nice breads, fruits, cereal, jams and pastries, as well as bacon, eggs, cheeses and hams (try the typical Speck, it's very yummy!). There's a sauna and table tennis in the basement free for all guests to use.|There's a bank with ATM just opposite the hotel and a Spar market open all day, ideal to buy anything you need before setting off for a nice hike.|The steam log train which runs from Jenbach near Innsbruck stops just across the hotel (don't get off at Maurach station, but use the one after that), otherwise a taxi ride from Innsbruck airport to the hotel costs 80 euros and takes 40 minutes.|Upon check in you'll be given an Achensee card which give you discounts and free rides on buses to the other 4 towns around the lake. The buses stop just on the left of the hotel entrance. The cable car which takes you to over 3,000 metres is also a couple of minutes' walk away - definitely very good starting point for a good hike in nature!|The Kingler restaurant is just opposite the hotel and linked to it by an underground passage from the basement (great if it's raining or snowing!). The restaurant has a nice décor and outside seating overlooking the peaceful road and valley and offers good food, drinks and ice creams.|Would definitely recommend and...
Read moreYou know after a day out and a long drive the last thing you want to hear when arriving at your hotel is somebody saying 'there's a problem'. But that is what happened to us but I have to say that the professional and accommodating way we were treated left us with nothing but respect and gratitude for the proprietors of this hotel.||It would seem that something had gone wrong with their booking system and despite out booking for one evening being made more than six months prior our room had been double booked and there was no room at the inn.||Mrs Klingler herself met me and advised and apologised for the mix up but informed that she had solved the issue by booking a room at the nearby Hotel Mauracherhof at the same rate we had booked with her.||It was only a short drive away (400m) and the evening went off without a hitch. So praise to the Klingler personnel because stuff like this does happen but the way they dealt with it was completely satisfactory to us.||We did eat in the cafe that evening and had a wonderful meal but for that review look under...
Read moreMaurach is a charming little place which gives a good sample of Austria in the summer. ||||Hotel Klingler is not a fancy hotel but it is great value for money especially if you have a family. We stayed in a room which was more like an apartment and had plenty of space for 2 adults and 2 kids.||||The room was a bit dark and balcony was next to a smoking area. We were not hanging around the room so it didn't bother us hugely.||||The staff were pleasant. We did have an issue with parking - a staff member told us we could park in two places; when we returned from being out for dinner there was no space in the small underground parking so we parked in an area next to the Cafe/Hotel. It was only the following morning when a shop owner was shouting at us that we realised we should not have parked there!||||Breakfast was very good with nice coffee.||||The location is great, near to a small shop, across from where the train stops and just a few steps for a nice terrace bar with a...
