Very rarely do I post a review for accommodation before I have left the property, but I am compelled to on this occasion. It is one of those instances where if I could award more than 5 stars, I would.
Pension Ballwein, and the family who operate it, are spectacular. Everything about the operation is is executed and presented with utter perfection. The building and her rooms exist at that difficult to obtain point of balance between traditional and modern, and there is nothing -I mean nothing- to want for or complain about.
The breakfast should not only have a review, it should have songs sung about it! Never throughout my many times in Austria or Germany have I seen such a vast, well-presented, high-quality selection as I have seen at Pension Ballwein. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and that usual awkward silence that exists in the breakfast room (you know the one) is entirely absent.
The owners here are clearly proud of what they do - and rightfully so. They should teach seminars in hotel operation and management.

Read moreUnderwhelming inn! The owner was very rude and not helpful. When I asked him to ckeck the refrigerator in my room since it almost did not work, he said it was as it should be and sighed on my back. Most things in the room are poor and old; old bed sheets, towels which smelled weird and more over they provided only one medium sized towel for one person, no air conditioner, noisy and weak fan, boiling pot in bad condition and so on. The inn is located in the outside of the city town, so I expected fresh air around the inn. But the stinky odor from the farm made us to close the window, so it was really hot and stuffy in the room. We couldn't sleep well because of the stink, hot air, and the numerous biting insects. The location did not worth the wait and ride of the bus from the...
Read moreOur hosts Simon and Daniella and their two adorable daughters were very kind and attentive. Our room was big, comfortable and clean. Our spectacular view of the Alps out our window was wonderful and we even had a balcony we could sit out on! The breakfast was gourmet. The eggs and breads and cakes, fruit, cheeses, meats and coffee with frothed cream on the side were delicious. We had a wonderful stay here, enjoyed the quiet outside of town feel, but we were still just a short bus ride away from town. Also, we ate at a restaurant suggested by them called Strasserwirt and it was delicious. We enjoyed the veal Wiener schnitzel and the lemongrass...
