We have just returned from a week’s holiday at this wonderful hotel. We had our two year old with us and my in-laws so we had various different requirements to cater for and the hotel did a brilliant job at looking after everyone.

Everyone we met was kind, friendly, helpful and efficient. There was an excellent level of customer care and service and we are already considering a return to the hotel in the future.

The food was another superb feature of our visit. The rest of my party had stayed in a great many Austrian hotels and commented that this was the best food they had ever experienced in one. This view was echoed by many of the other guests. There was a salad bar to start with, followed by interesting soup (not usually the case in Austria!), then a choice of three main courses followed by a delicious pudding. (My only tiny gripe with the dining room was the number of flies buzzing around.) Breakfast was also amazing and had a huge array to choose from so everyone was happy.

Our Inghams package also included a packed lunch every day. This consisted of 2 rolls with your filling of choice, fruit, chocolate biscuit and a bottle of water. This was so helpful and saved an awful lot of faff and fuss every day.

The hotel pool is tiny but suited our toddler perfectly. It is also evident from hotel pictures that the pool is not large so we knew what we were getting when we booked. We couldn’t get the lights or the bubbles to work on a couple of occasions but we could have asked for help at Reception and just didn’t have time. The sun terrace is perfect for the moments in between cloudy/rainy interludes and there was a little playground and play house which kept the toddler entertained really well. There is also another playground within view of the hotel and a 5 minute walk down a path past ducks and chickens so our little boy was very happy (and therefore so was the rest of the family!)

Oberau was in a good position in the valley as you could travel up or down on the Bummelbahn train/bus and do a variety of different outings. The outdoor pool is two stops down the line and has a waterslide, giant inflatable crocodile, toddler pool with slide, large playground and nice benches so made a great trip on a couple of days.

The Bummelbahn was another great feature of the visit as the toddler enjoyed travelling in it and it meant we didn’t need to hire a car. It mostly came once an hour, although it doesn’t seem to operate on Friday or Saturday so that was something to be aware of. There was also one day when it just didn’t turn up for no apparent reason. That was really annoying! However, it only cost 15 euros for a week’s ticket and we used it at least twice every day so it was a wonderful addition to the holiday. Only one cable car was functioning in the valley but we knew that when we booked and it didn’t really affect our visit.

There were several nights of musical entertainment at the hotel and at other places in the village. My family were very impressed with the high level of performance at these and they added another level of variety to the visit. Our room was just above the performance area and the music continued past my bedtime but I had earplugs so it didn’t bother me but it might be worth being aware of if you are trying to get children to go to sleep.

We had an appartment with a mini kitchen and an extra bedroom. It was absolutely lovely. The only minor problem with it was that the main bedroom was open plan onto the rest of appartment and the curtains were very thin and didn't quite cover all the windows. If this would bother you then take an eyemask.

Overall, this has been a fantastic holiday and I would not hesitate to recommend this excellent hotel. Thank you to all the staff who made our visit...

Had a great week here skiing 4-11 February 2023. The hotel is very cosy with great facilities and food. It's family run and has a very friendly atmosphere; everyone who works here is invested in you having a nice stay.

The food is of a high standard and varied. We stayed half-board and never found it repetitive. Drinks (which aren't included) are very reasonable. There are just enough wines available by the glass with a wider selection if you buy a bottle, with a few local beers and plenty of soft drinks - including the famous Almdudler - and, of course, lots of different schnapps!

The adults-only spa area is really nice with a variety of rooms: sauna, steam, scented showers etc. The pool, which is separate and for all ages, is okay - a bit too small for a proper swim and not quite warm enough for just floating about. The addition of a jacuzzi or two would be ideal. There's also table tennis and table football.

There was ample warm storage for boots and equipment, with just a short walk to the free ski bus to the gondola at Auffach. There was plentiful snow and sunshine all week when we were there, and the piste is well kept.

We didn't explore much beyond the hotel as we have youngish children and were usually exhausted after dinner, but there is a Spar shop and a number of bars and restaurants close to the hotel. There's also a single drag lift right next to it for beginners.

All in all, a great week at a lovely hotel which I'd recommend to anyone wanting to stay...

This has to be one of the best run hotels we have been to in all our Skiing experience. From the rooms being ready on our arrival before midday to having early breakfast when we had to leave at 07:20 on the Saturday morning.|The restaurant was an excellent experience with good food well prepared and served. We even had a small news letter each morning, in our own language, giving some tips for the day.|The bar was also very well run and all the staff were not only very friendly, but also very efficient, and quickly picked up our likes and dislikes.|Any little problems were solved or answered by the staff, from requiring a change of pillow, to missing skis. On the last day I arrived in the Ski Locker to find that one of the guests had taken my skis by mistake. I went to reception where the owner, Martin, took me to the ski rental shop and paid for some skis for the day. My own skis were returned by the evening, but the Hotel had saved my days skiing.|I am reluctant to mention any one of the staff members by name because all of them contributed to our excellent stay.|So thanks Martin for creating a well run establishment that made for an...

I and my family visited Tirol and stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. I must say the hotel is located in a very convenient place with bus stand right next to it... Play area for kids "Drachental" is right next to the hotel. The hotel has superb facilities like Sauna, Steam bath, indoor swimming pool, kids play area and lot of board games. The food was simply amazing. No complaints. The staff is so well behaved, everyone were courteous and helpful even if we didn't speak German. We took halfboard option for stay that was breakfast and dinner included but it was worth the money. If I visit Tirol again I am definitely staying here for sure.

Great ski vacation in a very nice family run Tyrolean hotel! Very clean and spacious room, great views, plenty of parking spaces, quiet and peaceful, great hotel team, attentive service and communication, excellent newly built spa center with new modern saunas and unexpectedly spacious pool. And a tip - opt for half board as the dinners here are really worth going for! A definite recommendation and a place for our return.
