Eager to be near Maguireās Pub and restaurant, I booked a room in the newer annex. The rooms were spacious and there was even a jacuzzi bath tub. The kitchenette looked new and clean, and the marble-like floors were also clean. The A/C was easy to control, and the wifi was reasonably swift. ||The bed was comfortable and was stacked with four pillows, which were not lumpy or in any other such foul condition. There was space to arrange the comfortable furniture into a social cluster. The only noise problem was the ubiquitous call to prayer. The windows have these unusual exterior motorized metallic shades that you can raise or lower with a switch. Lowering them before bedtime doesnāt help much in reducing the noise in the wee hours, however, so always keep your white noise app ready in the middle east.||I was delighted to find three small complimentary waters and a fruit...plate.||Now for the suggestions for improvement. This old hotel seems stuck in its ways, offering some amenities but refusing others. When you reach the bathroom, you discover that youāve stepped into a $7 a night dive in India when you see the little plastic packets of shampoo that you will have to stick in your mouth and gnaw upon for a while to make use of. The only soap is the little disks that robustly resists your efforts to claw your way in (see pic).||Absolutely no effort has been made to make the rooms hygienically back-of-finger-friendly. All the switches require full-on fingertip pressing, rope wrestling, and all manner of germ spreading activity.||The towels look like they have been used for scrubbing elephants for years. (Pic) The right-side door of the wardrobe was unopenable, and all of the circa 1955 furniture was a hodgepodge of mismatched pieces, some whose knobs were no doubt lost in the mists of time. (Pic)||The door key was the metallic kind with the keyhole way down below the knob, as you often see blundered in this part of the world. With the very low light in the hallway, getting back in can be a challenge. Oh, and pulling your door to does not lock it. This is the least automatic, least expensive hardware that can be found. (Pic)||In the newer annex, the small elevator worked fine, but the dark, unattended lobby was blotted by sad old frayed furniture.||The tiny parking area is woefully insufficient. It is also incredibly difficult to find this property if you donāt have GPS or a local sim for your Google Maps.||For such an important area of Manama for restaurants and nightlife, the hotels are as rare as hensā teeth. Mansouri Mansions could make just a few adjustments as listed above, completely change their restaurant menu, get trained staff who understand English, and you could almost justify the $145 per night rate (the $114 or $119 Booking.com quote you see on TripAdvisorās page for this hotel does not include the 21.27% markup for taxes and fees, as you will find everywhere in Bahrain now).||As to incompetence, when I asked what the nightly rate was in US dollars, I was presented with a calculator showing $19. I was then told a ācleanerā would escort me to the annex building, but no one came. I went back in and the front desk guy scurried out instead. I was then taken to the wrong room. Only when I called to ask where the water was did they discover their error, so I had to repack and move. The next morning the guy at the front desk couldnāt understand āRamada Hotelā (the nearest one), nor could he give me directions for getting out of the parking lot and back to the main nearby street.||With such compromises at $145, I will seek out a better value...

Ā Ā Ā Read moreTerrible experience with staff and the manager. We stayed 1 night and extended for another one. Middle of the night we received a message says that our stuffs are in the reception and ready to pick up. Assuming that it was a misunderstood information to the receptionist guy from my husband to extend but it is free to call and confirm before taking all the stuffs out. We came back and got our stuffs from the reception and went to the room. While checking, most of our items were missing. Such as clothing, bath and grooming stuffs. When we reported this issue, the manger wasn't helpful, unprofessinal, no willingness to solve the issue, and even asking us for marraige certificate which we never ever experience staying from other hotels. A terrible experience, not recommended hotel at all. Worst experince ever. Do...
