Updates 2025:
I still stay at this hotel often for my travel here. Most of the construction is done, so the noise has settled. THEY ARE PUTTING IN AN ELEVATOR. It is actively being built now in September. They continue to remodel and upgrade the older rooms. Overall this hotel has grown leaps and bounds the last few years. Meanwhile, the staff has been mostly the same amazing people the whole time.
Spend the extra few dollars for the remodeled room. It is worth it.
Updated 2/23/2023: I tried this hotel again since I travel here so frequently.
The construction progress is beautiful. Curb appeal is much better with the progress they've made. Problem? They start construction at 5:30am despite manager comments on recent reviews saying it doesn't start until 8.
The only accesible working power outlet in my room is the one in the bathroom. Kudos to the incredibly kind maintenance who worked really hard to fix it, but it couldn't be resolved. I unplugged the fridge and moved the multi-plug lamp to it so I could charge more devices without having to charge electronics right by the sink...
The handle came completely off in the shower when I tried to turn it on and the soap dish fell off the wall. Maintenance was able to fix the handle, but the soap dish stayed broken
the window in the bathroom is slatted glass. One slat is hanging down, so you cannot close the window. Workers are also outside it and the curtain is sheer. I hung a towel over it to feel more comfortable. No, the workers were NOT staring in!! It was me feeling uncomfortable knowing I could hear voices and workers right outside it with scaffolding there, so I chose to hang the towel to prevent any issues.
Ultimately, I think this hotel will be gorgeous after the construction. They shouldn't be selling half-finished rooms and need to ensure construction starts when they say it will. Staff are all super nice, never had a bill issue, and as an out-of-towner I always feel safe there. Food is also pretty good.
Original review 9/2022: I wanted to love this hotel. It had mixed reviews from my coworkers, but the other hotel I stayed at had horrible beds. I decided to give it a chance.
Room was fine. Well maintained, bed was comfy enough, very clean and all items in the room worked. This was a king room by the pool. Housekeeping was kind every day and did a good job. This hotel is under construction, so do expect construction noise.
What I did not expect was the non-stop party music that was extremely loud played from a speaker not 10 feet outside my door in the pool area. Several weeknights the music played well after 10pm. It's also incredibly loud all day, so don't plan on working from your hotel room if you're near the pool. Loud, laughing parties in the courtyard lasted until after midnight most nights. We did call guest services when we couldn't take it anymore. They said they'd send security and sure enough, the noise stopped. My concern is that this hotel is small. A full walk from the front desk through the courtyard and back is less than 4 minutes total. A simple routine walk for security should have stopped the excess noise without needing calls.
I spent my week here for business completely exhausted due to the noise between 8pm-2am stopping us from sleeping. If you stay here and need to rest, get a room as far from the courtyard...
Read moreWhere do I even begin other than saying this is giving them one star too many….the customer service at this hotel is probably the worst I have ever received anywhere in my entire life. To start, we needed a rollout bed for the room which we asked for when checking in. The host at the desk said to head to the room and the bed would be there shortly, along with extra towels and toiletries. After waiting an hour, we went back to the front desk and let the same person know the bed had still not arrived. We then went to the bar to get some food. The bartender proceeded to screw up all the bills. There were three of us, and he charged the highest bill any of us received to two different credit cards. I’d like to say I think it was an honest mistake, but after being on the lookout for getting scammed the whole week in Belize I just don’t believe it was. Getting to the bottom of that, and resolving the situation, took about 20 minutes. We then went back to the room, to find that the bed had still not arrived, and we had to go back to the desk to ask for it AGAIN. It took about 3 additional hours for the bed to finally make it to our room. When checking in, we also scheduled a shuttle to the airport for noon the next day. When we were following up about the bed that we had to chase down, we confirmed that the shuttle was booked and good to go. Well…the next morning we got to the lobby at about 11:50 only to be told that the shuttle was at the airport, but they could get us a cab. The cab driver we were told, would come get us in the lobby, but apparently he didn’t know that, because he was talking on his phone in front of the hotel waiting for us to go find him the whole time. The last straw for me was while eating breakfast the next day. We were presented with a menu, but had the option of choosing the buffet. When I tried to order food, I was questioned by two different staff members about why I didn’t want to eat at the buffet, which of course, was close to double the price of the menu items I had requested. That was it for me. I couldn’t get out of this place fast enough by that time. Physically this was the nicest hotel we stayed in while in Belize, but it was also the most expensive by far. When I pay extra for a hotel, part of what I expect is better customer service, and we didn’t get anything close to it. It was so unbelievably unorganized and poorly managed I can’t believe it was a busy as it was. The bottom line is this, I legitimately wouldn’t stay in this hotel again if I got a free room and would suggest you...
Read moreWe stayed at the hotel from Dec 31st 2022 to 10th Jan 2023. Rooms were clean, spacious and well equipped. We were originally placed in a ground floor room near to the restaurant but it was noisy very early in the morning with staff preparing for breakfast. We asked to move to a different room and it wasn't a problem :) They moved us straight away and there were no noise issues after that. The pool area is nice and clean and surrounded by beautiful plants. There are a couple of resident iguanas too! What let the hotel down massively is certain staff members. On New Year's Day I ordered 2 Pina Coladas and 1 ice cream. It took soo long to come, I had to chase the order a couple of times. After an hour I got really impatient and told the bar staff member that it was unacceptable to wait that long. Absolutely no apology or explanation to myself but they told my partner that its because they were doing an audit/or stock take which is why service was slow. Telling me at the time of order would of been helpful. Another morning I asked for butter for my daughter's Johnny cake, I got told "no butter". What! I told the waitress that it was ridiculous not to have any butter. Only after making a bit of a fuss did some butter miraculously appear. The waitress then told me it was because a delivery hadn't arrived yet. Again, it would of been helpful to be told that at the start! I would of definitely used the hotel facilities more if the staff were friendlier and helpful. After the bar order incident I didn't enter the bar again! It isn't cheap here either. I enquired about a massage at the spa but it was $125USD - double the price of a massage in the UK! For laundry we walked to Wash and Fold Express Laundry Service in Belama. Across the road from the front of the hotel you have Moe's Pizza 👍
This place has a lot of potential but I suggest customer service training for...
