On Valentine’s Day my friend and I decided to celebrate by having dinner at the well known Biltmore Plaza. We were given the 9:00 pm reservation we arrived at 9:06. The option for seating was up to us and we opted for outdoor seating. The buffet was not too enticing so we decided to get something from the menu. It was a challenge to get a wait staff’s attention to get a menu since they were occupied with other guest. Finally we placed our orders, a boneless ribs with a side of potatoes and veggies and curried shrimp with mashed potatoes and veggies and 2 drinks. We were served our meals at 10:15 pm, about 10 minutes after receiving our meals the waitress came and informed us that we needed to clear the bill at that moment because they closed at 10pm. Around us, table cloths were being removed from tables, cutting the lights and guests started to leave. Now, cutting our conversation short we started eating. My friend noticed that one of her steak was burnt black and covered with sauce when she got to it. Called a waiter over and he said that it had nothing to do with him and that there was nothing he could do about it and the kitchen is closed, in an unapologetic manner, she asked for a manager. Our initial waitress was instructed by the manager to tell her that she could have said something from the moment she got her food to maybe get a discount but she had already swiped her card and paid for it and there was nothing to be done since the restaurant was closed. Again she asked to speak to a manager. Few minutes passed and the manager came down, eyebrows raised and a stern demeanor, asking what was the issue. My friend explained that she was not okay with the quality of her meal and the fact that the staff is indicating that it was her fault for not checking her meal to ensure that she was served an edible, meal that she paid for. At this time the manager asked for the lights to be put on. (Conversation was happening in the dark). The manager reiterated that she could have said it before and nothing can be done. After back and forth and my friend standing her ground and saying that no one should ever receive inedible food and having lights turned off and getting served after the restaurant closed. Finally a refund was processed for the steak at 10:55 pm. Still with no empathy, apology...
Read moreOverall, a great dining experience in an amazing outdoor courtyard, although you have the option to sit in an air conditioned dining room as well. We had the buffet lunch and ordered from the menu for dinner. The buffet had a nice selection of hot dishes, but the salad bar/cold dish selection was sub-par. The fruit was suspect and the only salad dressing available was a room temp ranch that tasted a bit off. The dessert selection included a very good bread pudding, key lime pie, and banana bread with chocolate sauce in portions small enough to try more than one. The bread sticks were dry, but the rolls were SO fresh and delicious. We enjoyed everything we ordered from the dinner menu, and service was friendly. Portions are so large we requested to-go boxes, and they happily packed our...
