An enjoyable first-time visit to Villa Massis it was with high standards and excellent customer service from start to finished. Upon booking our stay I instantly got a message confirmation from Larry the Owner my only request to the villa was that I wanted to have an amazing, intimate unforgettable experience with my love. Larry responded promptly and informed me that my request will be granted and yes it absolutely was. My husband and I stayed in the 1 bedroom villa nestled in the jungle of San Ignacio. Our second floor hideaway has a over sized well decorated and fully furnished balcony. The balcony has a hammock perfectly placed to enjoy the beautiful sunset while gazing at the waterfalls cascading down into the beautiful pool and lush greenery surrounding the entire property. Our private Villa was as displayed on the pictures a fully functional kitchen with complimentary water, plates, kitchen towels, appliances and utensils. The bathroom with fresh clean towels and bath robes and a nicely decorated living space. I totally enjoyed the comfortable king size bed and furnishings, the tinted class doors and windows that allowed us to enjoy the views from all areas of the villa.
The service from all the staff was absolutely fantastic, and unforgettable. On arrival at the villa we were greeted with perfectly mixed welcome drinks and Melanie aka( Mel) had a birthday cake that she personally baked and decorated for my Birthday. I must pause just to reminisce on some of the most delicious well prepared meals bursting with flavors that seems to exlode on contact or arrival to my buccal cavity. Amini and Mel takes great pride with preparation, presentation and delivery of every meal and beverages served.
Honestly I really missed having my fresh glass of watermelon juice each morning pared with the best fried jacks we've ever had during our entire time in Belize. Prior to my arrival to the villa I scoped out and chose all restaurant in the local area for our meals but with the delicious local fresh tasty meals at Villa Massis we opted to dine at the villa. I must say how grateful, appreciative, and thankful I am to Amini , Larry and Mel they went above and beyond to provide a personal complimentary, intimate dinning experience with a dinner served right on time on our private villa balcony. We had so much wonderful moments at the villa. I experienced the best 90 minutes massage in the comfort of my room arranged by the staff at the villa and Amini arranged the most unforgettable experiences Vip pick up and chauffeur driven to Canoeing in the cave at Barton Creek Reserve.
I can go on and on about our wonderful time at Villa Massis will I return absolutely sooner than later. Thanks to the entire team at Villa Massis for making my birthday weekend, enjoyable, amazingly intimate and one that we will never forget.. Note to Larry the owner I really enjoyed reading your book that was left in the villa very informative and well written. Thanks...
Read moreI would highly recommend staying at Villa Massis when you visit San Ignacio. It's a lovely, boutique resort that only has 4 units so you know that your experience will be customized and the attention to detail will be incredible. ||We stayed in the penthouse which has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a small kitchen. It was perfect for our family of 4--plenty of room. Everything was clean and nicely appointed. ||The location is also great. It's outside of town (like a 5 minute drive) so away from most activity and secluded, which we loved because you felt like you were really hanging out with nature. We loved waking up to the sounds of all of the birds. I'm not a birder but it is amazing how many different birds there are here!||What really makes the resort stand out though is the staff. Larry, the owner, literally wrote the book on Belize, so he was super helpful when it came to tour recommendations and arranging tours. I also really appreciated that Larry grew up in Bullet Tree Falls, which is the village where Villa Massis is located, and he employs / contracts local tour guides in order to give back to the community. ||Dan was the all-around anything you need person for us. Need a ride? Dan. Need a recommendation for dinner? Dan. Going on a tour to the ruins? Dan. :-) He is fantastic. Super helpful, knowledgeable, friendly and just a really cool human being. ||Marta, Mirta and Lucy were all lovely and super helpful. And Melanie is the chef and the food is yummy at the resort. I really appreciated too that while they serve meals at the resort, they actually encourage you to try other places as well. ||We did a couple of tours (booked through Larry). Xunantunich ruins (so cool), river tubing (really fun and relaxing after sweating touring the ruins, plus you literally end in Villa Massis' backyard), Ajaw Chocolate (a really good history lesson on chocolate), Iguana Conservation Project (really fun and educational), San Ignacio Farmers Market (delicious pupusas and fresh produce) and cave canoeing at Barto Creek (SO cool and low stress -- be prepared for a bumpy ride the last 4 miles to the caves though). ||I would 100% recommend the resort and would absolutely stay again next time we visit...
