Shedrock Shangrila — Hotel in Stann Creek District

This was a fantastic venue. We stay in a lot of AirBNB's and this one exceeded our expectations. Tony and Robyn were excellent to deal with and so were the property managers Ellen and Aron. Ellen and Aron were both so quick to respond to any of our needs and also gave great recommendations on the area. Aron checked on us day one where we said the only thing missing was a cold beer fridge by the pool... within hours he had a fridge for us! Only thing that would've made it better was if it came pre-filled with beer! lol

We booked as 4 families but only 3 could end up going but with 6 adults and 6 kids we had MORE then enough space. Even with the 4th family we would've had lots. The pool is excellent temperature, the Kayaks and paddleboard (one was broken though) was a nice touch, we rented Rods off Ellen and caught some small fish off the dock, snorkeled out from and saw lots of star fish. Kids enjoyed going to the Bog Dock Bar down the street and swinging and jumping off while parents had a drink. I recommend taking snorkel gear here and seeing lots of fish under the Dock bar.

We hired Chef Aaron to come by a couple times. we recommend this. Favorite restaurants were La Trattori (Italian), Maximo's and Ella's Cool spot. Was disappointed in Chef Robs, don't recommend it. For the same price the Italian was way better!!

All in all, the house had everything, well stocked, excellent beds, great sunset views from the upper deck, lots of volleyball in the pool, quiet and safe...

Shedrock Shangrila nothing short of a private piece of paradise, with daily views of the sunrise over the sea, and morning visits from the parrots and parakeets in the treetops, both of which are fantastic when viewed from the 4th floor rooftop. The owners, Tony and Robyn, did the most amazing job decorating the entire place, paying attention to every detail. It's beautiful inside an out.

Ellen, the caretaker, checked in with us most mornings just to be sure there was nothing she could do to make our stay better, and was never more than a text message away for anything we needed.

The property is only a few minutes from the resort area, and a short ride from the village and all the restaurants and shopping. Hopkins Village as a whole has just enough going on to keep you entertained, but is relaxed enough that you never feel rushed. It's the perfect little fishing village with great Garifuna and Mayan food, plus enough variety "from home" that everyone can find something they will like.

We stayed at Shedrock Shangri-la for a few weeks and it was fantastic. We wanted a location close to amenities but quiet and private and this place checked those boxes and many more. Booking was easy, Robyn, Tony (the owners) and Ellen (the property manager) we all extremely helpful and quick to respond to our questions. Checking in was super easy and Ellen did a great job of showing us around the suite and property. The house is meticulously maintained, I mean everything is looked after. The property by far is the cleanest place we have ever stayed. I am sure Ellen and her staff scrub every corner of the place and wipe any surface available. The beds are the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in and the kitchen was very well equipped. The heated pool is perfect, the outdoor blue tooth speakers are a nice touch and the ample amount of loungers make Shedrock the ultimate place for relaxation or a perfect place to do any tours or activities you can think of!
