My wife and I decided to go back to Bermuda for our 25th Anniversary. We had cruised 18 years ago and had promised then to return. After a thorough research we decided on The Reefs. My 1st encounter was a couple of days prior to departure. Hurricane Humberto had struck the evening before. I had trouble reaching the resort on both numbers and kept receiving the recording that the call could not go through. I tried using my cellphone and dialed both numbers. The 800 number dialed but no one answered. On the second try someone answered! I explained the circumstances and asked if he was OK. He explained that both he and the resort were both OK. I explained that I just wanted to verify our booking and the choices that had been selected on a prior email. He (Chris) explained that power was still out, but that emergency power on the premises was in place. He was able to verify our booking and we went through the choices quickly. I did tell him about our 25th Anniversary, and I requested an arrangement in our room on arrival. I didn't want to take up too much of his valuable time, since the resort and the current guests were of more importance at the time. He and I both agreed that a follow up call the next day would be best. The next day I spoke with Donna and re-verified the information. She explained that the power had returned. Both Chris and Donna were utmost professionals - both cool as a cucumber in the circumstances and yet very personable. I felt like our trip had already started the before leaving. I was reassured that the resort and all staff and guests had survived the hurricane. We arrived on Saturday 9/21 in the early afternoon after a quick flight from JFK. We were greeted by another personable professional - Jozhahne. All staff are committed to helping complete YOUR experience. You would not even know that Humberto had hit the resort. We want to thank Lena Mae, Weiman, Rob, Richard, Kris Anthony, Harney, Vincent and Marc Angelo for helping us complete our vision. All staff at The reefs are as warm and inviting as the surrounding waters! The guests that we met are also special. It seems that we as 1st timers were out of the ordinary. We met couples who were working on their 6th, 10th, 15th and 20th revisit. The commonality to their repeat return is the Staff. Oh a d don't forget the amazing and spotless grounds. Tropical Storm Jerry passed while we were visiting. It was aa amazing display of logistics in how they prepared for the storm and then seamlessly returned the grounds to its original beauty afterwards!

First the good: the location is outstanding with broad views of the ocean and a private white sand beach. The property is pretty vertical and windy but this is probably the price for the views. The convenience of on site food is convenient. The staff were very kind and tried to be helpful. Proximity to the bus stop and bike rental was clutch. The not so good: I’ll start by saying that at $750/night USD your room should be an oasis but my experience was one of a dry place to stash my bags so I could escape and go elsewhere. I never unpacked my gear but instead took out what I needed for each day. The first room we had offered amazing views but no privacy (the balcony was basically on one of the pool decks). Other guests were waving to us as we got ready for bed. The view was amazing though. We asked for a room with more privacy and were moved to room on the back of the property with no light and views of the mechanicals. There was hair on the floor and in the showers. We asked for housekeeping to come but 6 hours later when we returned the hair was still there. The food at the restaurant (when it’s open and not blocked for an event) is mediocre and expensive. My fish was overcooked consistently and chewy. Breakfast was the best meal. Hotel staff mistakenly knocked on our door and woke us up one night. The staff seemed frantic and stressed out and that definitely impacts the vibe. We got the impression that the hotel was understaffed and that added to the sense of stress and pressure (staff were rushing constantly and there were often long waits at the front desk). You can hear adjacent doors slamming late at night and early in the morning. Overall miserable and very expensive stay, would not recommend.

The Reefs left a wonderful impression on me during our short 3 day family getaway. The snorkeling at the resort is top notch, with beautiful coral and wildlife plentiful and easy to find. The photo is of the weekly beachfront cookout, with a bonfire and live entertainment. The spa offers a great set of services, and my deep tissue massage was very high quality and the treatment rooms were 1st class. Although my mother’s manicure was great, it didn’t last very long. I think that has more to do with the high humidity than the service. The staff is extremely kind, offering personal touches when they can, and even at capacity, the resort doesn’t feel crowded. The bed was comfortable, and the view from the balcony would be hard to beat. The tile floor isn’t my taste, but the staff keeps the rooms spotless, with turndown service and complimentary in room Mixers for a Dark and Stormy on your arrival. The food is fine; I’ve enjoyed more extravagant meals, but I was never disappointed. The dish I enjoyed best at Aqua Terra was the Ravioli appetizer. The owner and GM are very present and hands on, and greet the guests personally and offer extras to return guests like my parents. It was wonderful to see them being taken care of. The resort is clearly privately owned, but well maintained and just a short walk from Gibbs lighthouse. It lacks corporate ‘polish’ but offers a charm and excellence that isn’t always present in resorts that update their rooms and their staff every few years. I look forward to returning someday.

Our early October visit to The Reefs was truly magical. We agree that the Reefs brings to life all of the things that make Bermuda such a uniquely special vacation. It oozes with charm and hospitality, its setting on a cliff gifts you with breathtaking ocean views, the staff welcomes you with warmth and impeccable service, the beach is truly stunning and the vibe is relaxed and tranquil.||What sets the Reefs apart to us is the staff… these are some of the kindest, most caring people we’ve ever encountered in our travels.|The level of care and kindness is hard to articulate, but it is a difference maker.||This trip, we were welcomed by bellman Zach... he is pure sunshine and we were blessed to start our Reefs vacation with Zach’s beautiful smile and careful care. His fellow bellman crew of Pedro, Leslie and Jace are also stellar.||The wait staff treats you like family and go above and beyond to make your meals a joy. I must mention some stars… Roy Dell, Kris Anthony, Ryan, Richard, Christian, and so many others.. wish I recalled each name, trust me, they are special. I bristled when I read a recent review saying the food was not good… we love the food at beautiful Coconuts and Aqua Terra to the degree that we chose to stay at The Reefs for all of our dinners. Breakfast is honestly a highlight of each day… fabulous omelette, coconut French toast and every breakfast option you can imagine. There is a Thursday Beach BBQ that’s so cool… huge buffet of fabulous dishes, music, torches, and bonfire. Super fun!||The other gold star at the Reefs is its magnificent beach. Private, pristine and almost too pretty to describe- I don’t think there is another beach on Bermuda that compare||Finally our room was so comfortable- housekeeping is top notch.. our housekeeper, Nekeeba, attended to every detail to make our room perfectly made up .. pristine! . Beds and pillows and thick, thirsty towels add to your comfort. |Spa also was fabulous with a shout out to beautiful Ivy who gives a fabulous massage.||Overal.. staying at The Reefs fills your cup … you will leave feeling rejuvenated with beautiful images tucked away till you can return. As they say… it’s the little things that are the big things… and there were 100s of little things that made our vacation so wonderful. Thank you to all at The Reefs- you are...

We just returned from a wonderful stay at The Reefs, and one of our most positive observations was the level of service from the bellmen to the restaurant servers to the housekeeping staff. As another reviewer mentioned, they happily go above and beyond to make sure you have what you need. No request is too big. |We also enjoyed all the restaurants and the variety from dining beachside at Coconuts to the daily breakfast at Aqua Terra. The Thursday beach bbq (luckily we had the last one of the season) was wonderful - the numerous choices were deliciously prepared to please every palate. I would just suggest to have the food items labeled as it was difficult to see what the chafing dishes contained in the dark after sunset. |Speaking of sunsets, none better than at The Reefs! I will say the beach was absolutely immaculately maintained and we enjoyed it so much. I have never seen sand like that; not one rock, pebble, or seaweed. It was like swimming in a saltwater pool. The servers coming around to take food and drink orders was also a huge plus. Makes the resort experience really nice. There are water urns at the pool, beach area, and in the restaurants so that you could conveniently fill up your bottles. |We liked our cliffside room - it was spacious and the view of the gorgeous beach was amazing. The only thing we would say to improve was the bathroom set up - strange no door on shower and no exhaust for the steam. The little shelf above the sinks is useful but it was not level and things kept falling over.|We also had wonderful treatments at LaSerena spa - the staff are very knowledgeable and efficient. |The main reason for a “very good” and not “excellent” rating was the stairs. Overall, we felt the resort was excellent, but the stairs were a bit more of an obstacle than we anticipated. We knew about the stairs and several reviewers warned of this as a mobility issue, but since we hadn’t seen photos of the stairs, were unsure of how many or how steep. |That said, the stunning beauty of the beach and quality of other amenities almost make the stairs forgettable!|We met some nice people and we would love to return to this paradise...
