Loved our stay at Hostel Tawri! The rooms were basic, clean and large for this part of the world. Nights can get very cold with no heating however there were plenty of blankets provided, unfortunately our room had no hot water however showers in the share bathrooms were a little warmer. The owners cooked a beautiful 3 course home cooked meal with fresh local produce and offered breakfast the next day. Would almost describe this accommodation as an intimate homestay. Guests be warned - this property is located at the VERY TOP of the Isla de Sol (apprx 45mins up a steep hill) however there are local porters (kids) happy, and acclimatised to the conditions happy to zip your bags up for a few soles. Rewarding view at the top and even better is the 2min walk to one of the main lookouts on the island. Would...
Read moreWatch out! The woman sold us a room for four persons a night costs 400 bolivianos (started at 450). We were tired and naiv enough to take it at first. Fortunately we haven't signed or payed anything yet. A few minutes later we found Out, that the average price for a night in budget stays in the island ist around 35 per Person. When we confronted her with that and wanted to cancel the room, she wanted half the price. Finally we payed 100 and kept this in mind. Our: Tip: don't believe any price. The other hostal (las Island) was unpleasant as well. Overall we didn't really feel Welcome on the Island and wouldn't recommend and overnight stay. As it has great views however a one day Trip is worth the time, eventhough the north of the Island is...

We were surprised by the delicious meal (soup of maní, grilled chicken, mashed potatoes and boiled vegetables) prepared for us in the light of a torch. It turned out to become an...
