Having perused a number of choices we opted for this Pousada for our two night stay in Paraty and I'm very glad we did. The location is excellent as you are elevated above the town with a lovely view, and it is a 5 minute safe walk straight into the historic centre. Morro means "Hill" and the Fort which was Paraty's historical defence is nearby. ||Our check in was friendly and efficient but without a doubt the accommodation's strong points are the location, especially in terms of the view, along with the attractive communal areas. The garden is well kept with seating and a small pool. The reception and breakfast area is on a covered verandah. At night there are candles on the tables in the garden which looked very pretty. We stayed in room 8 which was on the upper level with a lovely view. The bedroom was spacious and the bed comfortable. The bathroom was small and basic but everything worked. Furnishings are not 5 star but perfectly adequate. ||Breakfast was very good with lots of choices including homemade cake, fresh fruit, egg cooked to order.||Tours can be arranged from here although we did our own thing and sorted them out ourselves. To get to the town go out the entrance turn immediately left and then first left down a hill. Follow the road around a bend to your right and past a police station, then over a bridge directly into the old centre. Look out for an attractive book shop in a VW van then go exploring the cobbled streets, but leave the high heels behind. The photos we had seen of Paraty don't really do it justice. We had a great evening in the Salou bar with live music, did a jeep tour up into the jungle which was terrific fun, and ate some fab cakes at a weird cafe where I had no idea what was going on.||Overall I thought this was a nice place to stay. I understand why some people have observed that it needs updating but regardless of this we enjoyed all...
Read moreI think the main reason I liked my stay here is the room. We had the only "detatched" room, which is literally by the pool, but with a more private entrance and with a very own little patio, overlooking the beautiful nature around Paraty.|I'm sure the other rooms are as nice, but this somehow felt it was the best. Great value, around £90 per night (non peak season). "Great value" only if you are £, Eur, or $ though, becuse it seems to be on the very expensive side for brazil (and maybe brazilians too).|Regardless, this place and that room are worth every-single-penny. Breakfast is great and you'll get to have it in the main patio overlooking the bay, the pool is ok and it definitely works a treat when you come back from a day out or to relax in the morning when temperature are still not too hot. The staff is very kind and helpful.|This place is a true paradise and IMHO don't think it can be topped up, at least in Paraty!|10-15 minutes walking (uphill on the way to the hotel) to town center. If you come by coach, then is like 30 mins walking from the coach station. If you have actual suitcases though, get a taxi (no uber in Paraty) becaus it can be quite of the trek with all the...
Read moreWe stayed here for a few nights before Carnaval. We were there with friends and all enjoyed their stay. The upper rooms with balconies, views, and hammocks are worth it. Even if it is a rainy day, you can enjoy being outside reading or napping. The pool is small but refreshing and the seating beside the pool offers nice views. The pousada has limited rooms and guests respected the quiet environment. An extensive breakfast is served on the upper deck area starting at 8 am. Rooms are large with high ceilings and many hooks for hanging wet clothing. Good lighting for reading at night. Plenty of outlets. Shower, towels, bedding all very nice. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Cleide was very gracious helping us with a last minute day trip change as well as arranging boat tours with Badu. If you have a small group, much nicer booking a private boat instead of doing the bigger tours. The pousada is next to the forte and easy walking distance to the historic downtown, Praia do Pontal and Praia Jabaquara (for drinks, not great for swimming). The hill was not as bad as I had imagined. Fantastic pousada. Really...
