Our trip to Parati took us 15 hours and 6 bus changes ( came from Sarapui north SP), but my word it was well worth it! The local bus dropped us directly outside the Pousada, where we were met by a really layed back lady who took us from being stressed out to chilled out in seconds - the way we were treated at the pousada was nothing short of brilliant- being English and having wife and stepchild who are Brazilian, my Portuguese has got me by, but here a lovely German gent and his Finnish wife spoke to us in both Portuguese and English, while holding other conversations in German!! I am assured that 7 languages are spoken here, and they sounded jolly in the 3 I heard.||The reason I have written this review is that the went beyond what you would expect a friendly business to go. It was our last day and we were leaving that evening at 11pm, we asked if we could leave our bags there until we finished our last day in Parati, they did not only look after our bags they also offered us shower and changing before we left, and offered us a drink all free before we left that evening! There is good service, and then there is the vista mar - faultless!||Great position next to the beach, great breakfast, only 15 minutes of the town by foot - also 3 world class eateries within 2 minutes walk- the area is safe and welcoming (check out the crazy lady in the kiosk on the beach, and also the Stand up paddle surf hire/school)||||Jim Ellis, West Sussex,...
Read moreThe pousada is great. 10 minute walk to historical center and downtown, although you won't want to leave Jabaquara Beach. The owners/managers are a wonderful, friendly, and hardworking couple. They provide everything you need upon request. The pousada is clean and organized, the pool was clean, the breakfast was good. The owners provided plenty of information about Paraty, directed us to certain restaurants and bars, and got us whatever we needed when we needed it. ||The only complaint is that the air condition didn't seem to work in our room. Which would not have been a problem at all if the mosquitos weren't out. We didn't say anything about the air until we checked out, so chances are it was fixed right when we left. ||I would recommend taking the city bus from the pousada to the downtown bus station. From there you take a city bus about an hour to Trindade. It's cheap and fairly simple. Stay on this bus til the very last stop, and when you get out, look for marked paths to different beaches. There are beautiful beaches 10-15 min away by foot. Other people will be walking on these paths as well, so just follow along. The bus that heads back to Paraty from Trindade leaves every hour on the hour. If you don't want to stand, get there a little early to start...
Read moreAs camping refugees, we nabbed the last two rooms in this very comfortable pousada. Martin, the owner, was very helpful and pleasant, and speaks English (as well as Portuguese and German and possibly other things!). We were delighted to find that afternoon tea is served daily and that breakfast was delicious - lots of fresh fruit, fresh breads, and, best of all, toasted and untoasted muesli! It is a half hour walk into the Old Town, but faces a better area of the beach to swim than further into town, and is also quieter as a result. The pool is also well-maintained. We are downstairs, but I imagine an upstairs room (with a balcony and a hammock) would be even nicer.||||The rooms are quite plain, but tiled and clean, with aircon and a fridge. Nos 1 and 2 accommodate four people each, with a double bedroom at the back (aircon and ceiling fan), separate bathroom in the middle, and twin beds and a dining table and chairs in the front room (with wall fan). The patio also has a plastic table and chairs and a hammock. My only quibble would be that no mozzie nets on the windows means you have to do a bit of a mozzie hunt each night before sleeping. A mozzie net over the double bed would be a...
