Pousada Porto Praia — Hotel in Região Geográfica Imediata de Cabo Frio

Front desk staff should be the only reason for you stay here.||||We booked Tanto Mar (their sister Pousada) after reading reviews and looking at the pictures. We got there around 10pm after looking around for an hour or so, address was quite complicated and crazy to find at night.||||Once we got there the guy at the reception charged the money straight up and then he told us that rooms are under maintenance and not available so he is moving us to another hotel down the hill with no views and less exciting reviews. We were too tired of driving so we didn't argue much and went to the other hotel and got a discount as well. ||||It is a nice little place more of a family place than friends hangout. Wifi does not work inside the rooms and no one speaks english, although quite efficient...

The pousada is well placed to access both Praia Grande and Praia dos Anjos and the staff were friendly and helpful. However, the rooms were really disappointing, the overall feeling being one of dirtiness, lack of maintenance and general lack of care. There was a hole in the wall behind the bed, the sheets were dirty and duvets had no cover, the fridge was dirty and broken, we found insects in the shower and there was mould on the tiles, and on the day our room was supposed to be cleaned, the bathroom had been left untouched, meaning it felt quite unhygienic to use for the following days. Breakfast was adequate but basic and repetitive, swimming pool didn’t look clean and sauna was more like a steam room. Overall very disappointing and we left two...

This was a quaint little hotel... This was a very interesting town, small but lots to see. The hotel room was clean.. Room service does not come daily so you have to ask if you want it done. There was an awful smell in the room on the first night we stayed there. But the second day seemed to be okay. ||The hotel staff were very friendly. However they could have provided a map of the town so that we could have seen more of the beautiful beaches surrounding. If you have heavy luggage it's best to ask for a ground level room as there are no elevators. The main town is approximately a 20 minute walk from the hotel. It was a comfortable stay...
