Fabio & Angela are fabulous!! They are so kind and friendly. Fabio picked us up at the airport (make sure you remind him when you are coming in a day before), dropped us off at the falls, & told us how to get to the Pousada via city bus when we were done. We had to walk about half a mile from the bus stop, but Fabio's instructions were perfect. The room is not a luxury suite. Angela provides a wonderful breakfast every morning. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Bring your own shampoo/conditioner. Fabio took such good care of us for the 3 days we were there. He arranged: 1) a tour guide who took us to the Argentinean side of the falls which included transiting customs into & out of Brazil & Argentina. We were dropped off & left on our own with 8 other people for 7 hours to explore the Agentinian side of the falls (we prefer to do our own thing). 2) A taxi driver who was able to take us to Ciuded del Este, Paraguay...we just wanted to be able to say we had been in Paraguay. It is not the safest place in the world, but he kept us safe, and afterwards took us to the Buddhist temple in Foz, and then dropped us off at the falls for another visit. The driver did not speak English, but we were able to communicate effectively with the Google Translate app on our phones. 3) a cab driver to take us to the airport in Argentina, which again included transiting customs out of Brazil and into Argentina. The property is beautiful with all of the many trees and flowers Fabio has planted. One evening we just relaxed in the pool. This was a perfect stay, and I would highly recommend staying here as long as you do not expect luxury...it is humble and worth every...
Read moreThis little hotel is well hidden in a nondescript residential side street of Foz do Iguacu. We wanted to see the brazilian side of the Iguazu Falls and so took a taxi from the argentinian side to cross the border and spend the night in Foz do Iguacu. The taxi went to the address we gave him: Av. Imigrantes, 344, Foz do Iguacu, PR, 85853060 Brazil (Phone: +55 45 3574 4533) and looked perplexed until he located a walled property with a big metal door (no hotel sign). It looked a bit suspicious at first, but once we rang the bell, the metallic fence opened and revealed a nice yard and alley bordered by bungalos with a series of rooms. We got a big hug from Angela and greetings from her husband Fabio, both speak english well. The rooms are simple, the toilet will clog-up if you put paper in it and the wi-fi is a bit spotty. Nevertheless, the garden is a little oasis, bats eat in the fruit trees at night, there is a big parrot, the owners little kids run around, and the owners go out of their way to be friendly, will give you a free ride into town and guide you for the easy bus to the falls. The breakfast is buffet style with a lot of fresh fruit, cakes and some cheese, ham and bread. There is tea and coffee and you are welcome to take a pot or filtered water to your room as the tap water is not safe. If you have time, get to know Fabio a bit, he is a character and has very interesting life stories to tell, including driving over an alligator at night on one of his many trips documented by walls covered with photos...
