Reverted to this hotel because Tiradentes was fully booked - and what a wise choice. For a start, if you travel by bus Sao Joao is the main stop on the Rio-BH route. Secondly, Tiradentes is noisy and touristy, this is a quiet backwater with still plenty to see for one morning or evening walk either side of the river. The hotel is quiet and friendly, the owners nice and helpful. A little out of the way from the bus stop, but it's a cheap taxi ride. Close to the charming railway station, for an enchanting train ride to Tiradentes - if you are keen on a touristy but still attractive 19th century mining town.
