My husband and I were in Morro de São Paulo to celebrate our honeymoon. As it was important for us to celebrate this occasion we decided not to look too much for money, so we decided to stay at Minha Louca Paixão.|At arrivals we were given two glass bottles as the property has a sustainable approach and we liked it! |The receptionist that checked us in was a bit unmotivated, not sure is her usual approach or she’s just like that. Anyway, she told us that the water in the mini bar in the room (in cans, specifying they were blue and orange - still and sparkling) were included in the price. Unfortunately at check-out we have been charged for them even though we explained we were told they were free.|We booked one of the basic rooms as they were too expensive. Despite being the “cheapest” option the rate is overpriced or, at least, for what we got. The room was not very comfortable, one socket close to the bed (and when we asked at reception for an extension lead we were told to enjoy our stay. Even if it was a joke, in my opinion must be avoided as it is our business what we do during our holidays. |All the other sockets were occupied for the devices in the room (fridge, television, etc)|The lady that was close to the reception (from the housekeeping team I guess) heard our request and went to check if they had one, no luck. For the money we paid we were expecting them to try to find one.|In the room we found a welcome card (not sure was just specific for us as it wasn’t mentioning anything about our honeymoon and a voucher for 2 free drinks).|The glasses of the windows were dirty. In the balcony there was no hammock (on their website there is written that all the rooms have one). When asked to reception we were told that some rooms might not have it and then told us that somebody would have brought one. No one came. We had to ask again the following morning.|The bathroom smelled as damp. The wire of the hairdryer was completely full of mould. The drain of the sink was very slow and the bathroom got blocked more than once. |The breakfast was great, all the people working in the restaurant/bar were amazing.|We only had an inconvenient with a meal as we asked for a moqueca de camarão and we were charged something else instead. This happened as the online menu was not the same as the one in the restaurant. Luckily this has been sorted at check-out as it was not our mistake. We specifically ordered the mentioned dish and we were not told that was no longer in their menu.|The pools are beautiful, however they must have regular maintenance - they were damaged by the passing time.|Should the price get lower (we spent over 8,000 R$ for one week) it might be worth going back, otherwise, we won’t...
Read moreBest option in Morro if you want to stay close to restaurants/bars. Great swimming pool and bar by the pool. It also has the best restaurant in town - fresh food, super tasty, great breakfast.
There are a few issues though, which really bugged me to the point I gave it a 3 stars. But this could easily be a 5 star review
We booked two rooms. One of the rooms was a garden room for 2 adults and 2 kids (the other one was an ocean front for 2 adults). When we got to the hotel, the garden room had nothing to do with what the website displayed. The room was dark, small, full of bugs and claustrophobic. We were able to move to another room that was the same type of the oceanfront room we had originally booked. We had to pay the full fare difference but it was worth it. If we had stayed at the bad garden room, the stay would have been miserable. The new room was very loud though. A delivery boat would park in front of it every day at 5am and wake us up.
This is not an ultra expensive hotel but it is pricy for the island. I didn’t enjoy some nickel and dime items, such as putting chocolates on our beds during the day and then charging 5 BRL for each one of them for every day. The beach towel control also seemed too much
Service could be better, especially at restaurant and pool bar. They were super nice people but it would take forever to get a drink or an order done. I’m talking about 30 minutes for a drink, even when we were the only ones by the pool.
Again, probably the best option in town. I would go back here if this means anything. I just want to provide a good feedback to the place so management can make it be a solid...
Read moreThe highlights include the very friendly Mari at the reception desk and the nice swimming pools (as in one at the ground floor and one on top of the gym, which one can access for 15 reais a day, a 50% discount for guests, but you are not going to go all they way for a great gym, right?). The lowlight during the summer is essentially limited to one: flies. The whole island is taken by flies during fruit season, which is January. I wonder what management has done to keep flies away and it is not working! During breakfast and lunch (which is not included in the daily rate) eating becomes a challenge from two perspectives: eat before flies touch your food and get past any disgust you may have of getting food from the bars where flies have found their muster stations... in other places around the island we saw little trays with used coffee set on fire to scare flies and that works. That is really the only thing - not managing flies well - that prevents me from giving a...
