Our experience with Therma ECO Village did not meet our expectations. We booked directly through their website and agreed to pay 2,148.90 BGN (approximately 1,100 EUR) for a two-night stay in one of their villas for three adults and a 14-year-old child. With this price and the online presentation in mind, we headed to Therma ECO Village. Upon our arrival on Friday, August 16th 2024, we reached early, so we left our documents at the reception for registration and spent some time exploring the property and relaxing at the beach. However, we immediately noticed several issues: The main reception lobby was poorly maintained and lacked fresh air. The bathroom in the lobby was unclean and had a strong smell of urine. Passing through the restaurant near the lobby, which was serving breakfast at the time, we observed dirty floors, unsanitary coffee and juice machines, and cooking pots that were blackened on the outside. The outdoor dining area was also dirty, and the staff wore no uniforms and seemed unkempt. We were allocated Villa Torino I, on our booking we had booked a Villa Premier. The online images of the Villa Premier included direct pool access from the living room, which was one of the main reasons for choosing this type of Villa. Villa Torino I did not have this feature, making us feel misled. Despite these concerns, we went to the beach, hoping to salvage our stay. Unfortunately, the path to the beach and surrounding areas were not well kept. The closest beach bar as from "our" villa was not in fact accessible to us/their services were not included, and the one available was kept in poor condition, with old, dirty, and oily furniture—far below 5-star standards. We then attempted to address these discrepancies with the hotel’s Reservation Department. We calmly explained our concerns and requested a free cancellation without penalty, allowing us to book elsewhere. They assured us they would find a solution and contact us, but we never heard back. Repeated attempts to reach them by phone and email that day were unsuccessful. We were forced to find alternative accommodation and, unfortunately, our attempts to recover the advance payment were unsuccessful.

I had several major issues with both the hotel and the staff during our stay: Elevator Situation: The hotel had only one working elevator, with a capacity of 6–8 people, for five floors and approximately 500–700 guests. The second elevator was out of order for our entire five-night stay, and no repairs were made. As you can imagine, especially around breakfast time at 8 a.m., the wait was excessive. We're a family with a small child and ended up waiting nearly 20 minutes, only to eventually take the stairs down from the fifth floor with our child. Housekeeping Delay: On our second day, we requested that our room be cleaned and the towels changed. We left for the beach and returned around 11:30 a.m., expecting to freshen up before lunch, but the room hadn’t been touched, and the wet towels were still on the floor. When we asked the cleaning lady, she told us she was the only one on the floor and was prioritizing rooms for new arrivals. Shower Issues: The shower in our bathroom was severely clogged, with barely any water coming out. I reported the issue to the reception, and they promised a technician would come to fix it. Unfortunately, no one ever showed up during our entire stay. All-Inclusive Meals: The food provided as part of the all-inclusive package was far below the standards of a 5-star hotel. Breakfast started at 7:30 a.m., but when we arrived around 7:45, many food items were still not available. On multiple occasions, there was no bread even 15 minutes after breakfast had begun. This happened every morning. Dirty Dishes: The dishes and cutlery were frequently dirty, which is absolutely unacceptable in any hotel, let alone a 5-star one. Stray Dogs: There were three stray dogs roaming around the outdoor dining area. I spoke to a waiter about it, and he explained that they had tried to remove the dogs but were unsuccessful. However, it’s the hotel’s responsibility to ensure such animals are not present on the premises, especially in a dining area. Communication Barrier: Around 95% of the staff appeared to be from Asia. Not only did they not understand Bulgarian, but many of them also didn’t speak English, which made communication extremely difficult.

I used the facilities of this hotel during the winter months in 23/24. Firstly, pricing. It’s not possible to buy a card to use everything, three separate cards for Gym, Pool and Therma zone are needed. As an ‘Eco’ resort I was surprised to have a plastic band put on my arm each time I used the facilities. The prices are sky high compared to competitors and I really don’t see why. When I opted for a package of 10 pool visits and 10 gym visits (20 lev less than separate) I was informed that it was EITHER the pool or Gym, not 10 times to each which makes NO sense. I asked for a refund immediately, this was refused by a HORRIBLE, RUDE AND ARROGANT female manager, a breach of EU trading standards. When the manager left a staff member who understood my complaint and was shocked by how the manager treated me allowed me to pay the extra 20lev to use both 10 times. Whoever plans the packages needs to do some maths……. And check other local prices as almost every gym/spa in the area is vastly cheaper, Aquahouse is great, Ivanchov Han has better thermal pools and all local gyms charge around the same price for unlimited use as this place charges for 10 visits….. But that’s not all! The gym lacks many basic features, simple machines like tricep pulldown. The pool was on some occasions slightly green and filthy, the Jacuzzi even more so. At one point I got sick and took a couple of days away but on return I saw the Jacuzzi closed down and taped off, I asked the nasty manager if that was how I’d got sick, she tapped me on the shoulder and walked off. Check the shower-heads in the changing rooms. God forbid you need to buy some water after the gym, the bar is almost always vacant and getting anything to drink takes 20 minutes. I also decided to use the on site ice skating facility. It’s not any different to the facility in Mladost in Varna….. But it is 10 times the price!! I only stuck with this place because I was new to the area. If they got rid of the female manager, cleaned the pools more often and sorted the membership prices then it would be an OK place.

Warning: this hotel is a danger for your health - by any means unfortunately no 5 stars. If you want to spend an annoying vacation, you are right to stay at this hotel. When you come here, service is an unknown word and from the beginning you are on your own. We booked a villa for 10 days and would not come back ever. The most important advice I can give future guests: don’t book all- inclusive You will only get the cheapest possible, if it’s included at all.

We and many other guests suffered diarrhea – the hygienic conditions in the kitchen or food processing are obviously insufficient. I saw even children vomit directly in the food rows. The only restaurant has the flavor of a cheap canteen and is miles away from 5 stars, as all the rest of the “resort” also. The first evening we dined in the restaurant, we had too deal with an invasion of cockroaches in the dining room that tried to get on our plates. All excuses and regrets cannot restore confidence. Be aware, that all the food and drinks are of minor quality, the lowest you can get. There is only cheap food and drinks available, unless you pay extra. Once a dish is finished before end of i.e. dinner time, breakfast time, it will most of the times not be refilled.

If you have a guest complained or a request, you will be ignored, only if you are obstinately calling or standing at the reception, you might get some help. Management is week and most employees do what they want. Two Villas are always built together. The Villa next to ours was empty, but instead, cleaning personnel would move in there and disturb us with there present the whole time. They would smoke a lot, make a lost of noise, so that our child would wake up during sleep and we had to go over and ask them to be silent. The would spend a lot of time in the villa and live like guests, eating ice cream and swimming in the pools. The investors of this hotel have not considered that a hotel is not just building nice rooms or surroundings including an average pool, but if there is no quality-of-service, all the investment is in vain. Here, only your money is welcome, and you will feel it quite quickly Hotel Staff is not careful, fully INattentive and management completely ignores your requests. Some staff is even unfriendly, and you often get the feeling, you owe them something. If you want to take a shower, within 2 minutes, you will flood the bathrooms and all the other rooms too. After several calls, technical staff arrives, takes out some hair of the drain and explains with hand and feet (no English) that the construction of the showers is the problem! So in short, you’ll have to live with it.

Cleaning is very superficial and basic – no cleaning of floors or bathrooms. After a few minutes they’re gone again, if they come at all. Therefore, it’s no wonder, that the bathrooms were dirty already when we arrived and there was hair on the walls from previous guests. The pools are not clean, and the water slides only work from 11-12 and 15-16 hours. The rest of the day, they are closed. Our child sleeps exactly during these times. It’s obvious, the hotel wants to save money by using little water and power.

To get to the beach, you’ll have to walk a few minutes – the surrounding of the hotel is unfriendly and wild. The umbrellas and sunbeds on the beach are old and rusty. The beach is not only for hotel guests, but for everyone. When we were there, it was very windy every day and there were very high waves. It was not suited for a 3-year-old child. There were also a lot of jellyfish, I saw many children crying.

In the evenings, there is very few and low-quality entertainments in the hotel. A pale firework of 20 seconds underlines the desperate situation. The close village Cranevo is deserted, and many shops closed and restaurants not trustful. Everything is dirty, and you will get the...

The room was dirty at our arrival, in particular the floor was not clean. The sides of the beds were dirty with what looked like old stains from vomit. Overall, all the soft furniture in the hotel is dirty and disgusting. Very bad choice of furniture for a hotel full of children as soft furniture is impossible to clean.

The curtains were not thick enough and it was difficult to sleep for the whole family.

We were in 41A and we had the "Christmas lights" above the main entrance of the hotel blinking in our eyes until 23 hrs. Several times I had to call the Reception as at midnight the lights were still on. Instead of apologising, mostly the receptionist was arguing that the lights are switched off automatically at 23 hrs - obviously not, as at midnight they were still on. One night my husband had to even go down to the reception at 3 am to ask them to switch them off again - the lights had been turned on after we had fallen asleep.

We stayed 12 days - our sheets were not changed during that period of time. We would expect they would be changed twice, or at least once in 12 days.

The cleaning was only done properly by one of the cleaning ladies (to whom we are very thankful and who was the only helpful member of staff in the whole hotel). When we had someone else, almost nothing was done.

We had a wasp nest in the roof just above our balcony. The wasps were huge and were flying all day on our balcony, which made it impossible to use or open the windows. We signaled the problem from the very start and according to a member of the hotel staff, the hotel had been aware of this for at least a week. Despite that, nothing was done to remove the wasp nest until our departure. Moreover, the staff at the Reception were lying to us that they will do something. Several days passed, then they suddenly realised that a company needs to come as the problem was serious and of course the company never came and I bet it never will.

The food tasted like canteen food and does not correspond to what a 5 star hotel should be providing. There was no description of what we are eating. Fish was called fish and that's all. No details about allergens. The staff in the restaurant were mostly in bad mood. They were not cleaning the tables properly, not to mention the chairs who were dirty with food and drinks from the previous people who sat there. The plates and cutlery were dirty and one had to look for a long time for a more or less clean plate or spoon.

All the guests of the hotel were suffering from a stomach bug and people were vomiting everywhere. In our family of four, only I didn't get it. With such low hygiene in the hotel, it was impossible to avoid this.

The pools were full of hair and sand. The floors and the walls of the pools were covered with sand and were dirty. Even in the 25m indoor pool, were I was hoping to find something a bit cleaner, people were swimming without swimming caps and with the same swimsuit from the beach.

The animation for the kids was non existent during the day. I was expecting to be able to leave my kids for a couple of hours to enjoy some time in the pool or on the beach with my husband, but this was impossible. They were just giving some sheets of paper and pencils to draw and were not watching over the children, but were staring at their phones.

The animation in the evening was more or less ok, but one of the nights, there was a drinking game, which left us speechless. And this happens in front of all the children of the hotel.

Overall, this is no more than a 3 star hotel - and it is largely overpriced and too dirty even for a 3 star hotel. We just came back from Bansko where we stayed in a 3 star hotel with much better service and food.

I would like to receive a partial refund, as the service and food in the hotel are much below what a 5 star hotel should...

We were here for 7 days, and I am not going to lie, if I knew what was waiting for us, I probably wouldn't come here at all. First and foremost, it's not a five star hotel. Maximum from me is three stars, even given the fact, that the hotel has "all inclusive". This is not at all comparable to the hotels in Turkey, their level is far from that! The greeting was just unforgetable! Imagine this: you have just arrived to this massive hotel, which, at first sight looks nice. The first thing you see is two people loudly arguing with the receptionist about their kids and their family having terrible food/water poisoning. The receptionist doesn't seem to care, there's nothing they can do. The manager is called, the doctor is not in sight. How would you react? I was stunned. I thought I would not bring myself to eat there ever. I would tell you, that the food is decent, though not at all comparable to the food in a five star all inclusive hotel in Turkey. But on my last day of this "amazing" trip I caught a terrible stomach bug. I was praying to get back on my feet before my flight. Considering the fact that I didn't drink ANY tap water there, I didn't drink any sea water while I was swimming in the sea, I was mindful about the quality of the food I'm eating, I still got sick. I'm lucky my organism is somewhat strong and I brought plenty of pills "just in case". I'm not the first person, who had stomach problems in this hotel and I'm definitely not the last. Draw your own conclusions there. Moving on, the all inclusive is questionable. The drinks and cocktails from the lobby bar are somebow not included in the "all inclusive", you have to pay for them. On the other hand, the bar near the pool, where you can't even recognize the brands of the alcohol they're serving, is completely free, wow!:) The drinks from there were horrid, one thing that was semi-consumable was beer. And did I already tell you? The mini-bar is not free, no-no. And to refill it, you would have to go to the reception and talk to the staff AT LEAST three times before they actually do something. So, here's for the service. Staff is condescending, sometimes looking at you like you're not very smart. The water in the pools had questionable cleanliness, sometimes green-ish with plenty of sand and dirt on it's bottom. The restaurant, besides it's questionable quality of food has a huge minus – flies. The outdoor part of the restaurant is connected with it's indoor part, so they freely fly around. The rooms are somewhat clean, the cleaners tidy them every day. They change your towels, but not your sheets though. Huge no-no are bathrooms. The shower is poorly designed, there's no way you shower and don't get water all over the bathroom floor. This way there's a huge puddle of water on the floor, the vent doesn't work that well, so the bathroom stays damp and the next thing you would expect is mold. There is mold. The best thing about this resort is the sea. The beaches are nice, though, the sand is not very clean, but this is because of people that litter. I think, initially a lot of money was spent on building and managing this hotel, but now it's nowere near as well-kept. In conclusion, I'm sure that you will find a way to spend your money better, than on this hotel. And if you already did, may the force be with you and pack your first-aid kit with Enterosgel...
