First thoughts on arrival were that the place looked pretty good. There was free parking at the side of the hotel and the lobby looked clean and fairly modern. That was where the positive experience ended. I don't know if they are underpaying the staff here, but that would account for the attitude of the guy behind the counter, who while he spoke English which was helpful, seemed bored and uninterested to the point of rudeness. First impressions of the room were that it was spacious and comfortable. However, soon found out that once turned on the shower would not turn off and was leaking from behind the taps. We were on our way out to eat and were told a plumber would be called to sort it while we were out or our room would be changed. When we came back the reception staff had changed and had obviously not been told about the problem. Finding out that the repairs had not been carried out we managed to change rooms but there was no apology and we had to repack and relocate. At breakfast we waited to be shown to a table but were totally ignored by the waiter so took a seat and waited. After some time he finally acknowledged that we were there and gave us our menus. The food was mediocre and when my partner asked if she could have another hot drink was told she would have to pay extra. Would not stay again and would not...
Read moreI come here every year with my partner whilst he visits family, and it is the only hotel I would return to in the city. I have stayed at numerous others in the area, and would not return to those. ||||The positives are it is a cheap hotel in a good location. However it is noisy as it is on a busy main road. The rooms are clean, they provide radiators in the winter and there is a built in air conditioning for the summer. There is also free parking. ||||The negatives are the staff do not speak a word of English. The rooms are basic. I had some issues with the hot water in one of the rooms I stayed in as you had to run it on full power for about 10/15 minutes before the hot water started coming through. ||||One issue we had during the stay we paid for a double room for 2 people. However, my partner decided he was going to stay at his parents one night, and I would stay in the hotel room by myself. Our plan changed that evening and we both returned to the hotel to sleep, and the reception kicked up a fuss about having an extra guest. (although we had paid for a double room, and he had stayed three nights in the same hotel previously) ||||I would return, only because the other hotels in the area are worse...
Read moreI booked this hotel by telephone the day before we arrived and the receptionist sent me an email to confirm my booking. The next day when we turned up the receptionist had no record of our booking, I had to show her the email I was sent by the hotel. With much shuffling of papers and checking the computer she found us a room. Yes we are in Bulgaria but no one spoke a word of English! The room was clean but the bathroom smelt awful, something like raw sewage. There was no extractor fan or window in the bathroom so we could not get rid of the smell. ||We decided to eat in the hotel restaurant as there was nothing really close apart from takeaway food. My partner tried to order several things on the menu but just got a shake of the head. Take them off the menu if you do not have!!||Breakfast was probably the worst I have ever been served. Cheap spam and terrible tasting cheese. Coffee was the worst I have had in Bulgaria.||The rooms did not have any information regarding safety (in case of fire) in English only Bulgarian. They had a booklet telling you about the highlights of the area.||I would not use this...
