Upon arrival was told I will be met at the hotel with our key and WiFi router we had paid for, however was driven to theyre offices and told to pay in full, after an hour of arguing that we’d already paid and him finally able to wake his boss up as it was 1am they gave us our keys and took us to our complex. After waking in the morning I took a look around, there exposed electrics, the shower hanging off, the shower door had gone and was replaced with a grotty falling apart curtain, there were 5 of us staying in this apartment 2 adults and 3 children, there was enough warm water for 2 out of 5 of us to shower warm, the water tank would take hours to fill back up and get warm again, plus without warning it drops all over the floor and if you don’t have a bowl under it to catch the water you will find your bathroom has a small river flowing through it. they display pics of karolina hotel and the pool which have nothing at all to do with these apartments but they will allow you to use , the gym you can hire off them for 10kg a day, spa was shut down, not sure why, resteraunt was nice, pool was nice and looked after but as I say these belong to the hotel, the thing that will catch you out is all these beautiful pictures are of the hotel which has nothing to do with they’re private apartments so when I went to the reception I was told that they can’t do anything as that’s nothing to do with them. They are displaying pictures of beautiful hotel rooms which are not the rooms they gave us, our room was supposed to be air conditioned throughout as we asked, the big room had air con for the two sofa beds my kids had to sleep on but our room had a fan to keep us cool, the beds were uncomfortable no good at all for your back, we paid for cleaning and change of towels etc, nobody came once, even though I tried to complain the hotel said it’s nothing to do with them. We also paid for an extra day as our flight back was at midnight and didn’t want to be stuck holding our suitcases all day from 10am so they told me at the beginning of the holiday we’d be picked up at 9pm outside our apartment entrance on Friday 15th I said ok, at 7.30pm that night I got a call from a Bulgarian number to make sure all is ok, this someone who called me doesn’t speak English well at all and told me in very broken English that they collection the next day is sorted, at which point I said I don’t want picking up the next day, you have all my flight details and you knew and agreed to pick me up in an hour and a half from now at 9pm Friday yet your phoning me and you don’t know anything about it. You try explaining all that to someone who doesn’t speak English when you only have 90 mins before your supposed to be on your way to airport. Lastly all complaints fell on deaf ears I told them about my room, the defects, the fact the hotel didn’t wanna know, the fact it didn’t get cleaned once. The oven they give you won’t close and has no visual displays to tell you temperature or if it’s up or down, the oven once on won’t close so it cooks the front room. Falling apart patio furniture on the balcony. Drawers falling apart not opening and closing properly. Needless to say Won’t be...
Read moreWe are family of 3 who stayed for 1 week at karolina hotel. We got a spacious 1 bed apartment with a big balkony. It needs some renovation as bathroom floor was flooded after every shower, disgusting smell of bedding so i used lots of parfume on my pillow.|Food was tasty as we like eat lots of vegetables, but low choice of meat because pieces of meat were mixed with veg. Few types of fruits & desserts.|It is a big complex but keep in mind because there is a stadium across the street. Unfortunately at the same time there were few football teams with boys aged 10 yrs. So it was quite for few hrs in the morning but then lots of kids running around. Long queues to get a drink. Nobody guarded at the pool so they dived ignoring signs 'no dive'.|I could deal with kids noise, bedding & room issues, but reception area was extremely upseting. At the arrival receptionist didnt know price for parking. We rented car and were told its a 3 eu cost per day but all of the sudden we had to pay 10 eu per day. In couple days receptionist asked to present her a voucher. It was a challenge to find it in email as we travel 2 - 3 times per year and never were asked for it. We thought it might be miscommunication between travel agency and hotel. Thats ok, we gave it to her. Saturday was our last day, kids finished matches on friday, so only few ppl left at the hotel. Finally we enjoyed swimming & sun. At 5 a clock receptionist came to our room asking to pay for extra day. It was first time we faced such unprofessional manner. We went to reception area and we were told that we decided to stay longer even it was a hol package. Arrogant receptionist said we have to contact our travel agency. Nobody told us what is a policy of hotel on arrival, nobody mention till what time we have to leave premises. Btw we spend all day at the pool which is close to reception. |Also housekeeper entered our room twice even there was a sign 'do not disturb'! But we didnt complain about it because she didnt speak russian or english. |But it was such horrible ending of our stay because of receptionist! We felt ourselves as thieves. So we packed our belongings and left hotel asap.|If you are first time traveller, prepare yourself to ask receptionist questions to get as much information as you can about your stay. Regularly its receptionists job to provide info regarding your stay. Otherwise it is easier to choose any other hotel because there are plenty of them.|Bulgaria itself is beautiful country, lovely temperature and we def...
Read moreI liked the pool, I reccomend going in the morning if you want to swim in some peace because it's not as crowded.
The buffet was like heaven 😇 It had lots of different choices everyday for breakfast, dinner and tea including a mix of national foods like Banitsa, Fish n chips and free ice cream🍦. Although the breakfast is in some ways repetitive it is nice. If you sit outside and eat there may be some cats because they tend to sneak in. From the reviews I've seen people are saying the food isn't nice but that is completely wrong it is quite good food and the chef outside cooks warm meals so there's nothing to complain about really
Now the room, I got to say it was quite small for a family of 4. But it did include, a fridge, a TV, a shower, and other essentials.
Service was brill, the cleaning lady was nice and the waiters at the buffet didn't talk too much bit did their job of course. There was not much entertainment for kids but there was a bar inside and outside so you can get pop and beer. Our room was cleaned everyday by the cleaner.
The location is quite good because it's only like a 10-15 minute to the beach and their is also lots of things to do nearby. Close to the hotel is a bus stop which is 5 lev for 4 people and takes you to Old Nessebar which is beautiful. Also if you like land trains there is land trains that stop outside the hotel and take you to the center of sunny beach or Old Nessebar, there is a water park nearby called pirates of the Caribbean and it is 70lev per person and it's quite small. What I do think is worth it is Aqua Park Nessebar and we went there last holiday in 2024 and it was good but the bad things were that my brother broke his glasses and me and my dad fell of the ring on a waterslide mid ride🤣
There is lots of shops nearby so you can pop to the shop and grab your things that you need. Nearby there is a pub called father teds and it is Irish but the food there was really good, there is lots of eletric trikes and scooters about so I would watch out for them. 😆
And at last the balcony and I've got to say ours didn't really have a good view, you could briefly see the sunset but other than that it's just covered up with hotels and I will put a video or picture below so you can see 👀
I would recommend to stay here if you are looking for a...
