Gardenia Palace — Hotel in Pomorie

The property itself is very nice and has a lot of potential but management isn’t there!||My family and I spent there 10 days. Towels are changed every 3 days, bed linen - only 1 time in the middle of your stay! The apartment was supposed to be cleaned at the time of changing the towels but except for brooming a bit, nothing else was done! Shower and sink in the bathroom were still dirty! They forgot to bring toilet paper and soap for which we had to ask eventually! Later on they left 2 rolls of toilet paper for 4 persons!!!||The hotel is positioned between the Salt lake and the sea. Apparently because of the lake, there are creepy spiders and flies ( looking like mosquitoes) all over the facade of the hotel and inside the apartments too. Impossible to leave laundry on the balcony, if you don’t want the spiders all over them!||The day that we arrived, there were sugar packets inside the cutlery drawer in the kitchen and because of that ants inside and all over the kitchen counter. On the next day the ants were also down on the floor and in one of the bedrooms. The hotel manager told us that apparently we had food in the apartment and that’s why the ants !!! Sure we had food, but well packed and the ants were there when we arrived already! She told us that she can’t agree with us that there was sugar left in the drawer!!!||For couple of days everyday we asked them to do something about the ants. The only thing they did was to put salt all around the small kitchen corner, which of course didn’t help. There was no other solution offered to make our stay more comfortable. The management didn’t seem interested to listen to our problems and left us with a feeling of not caring at all!!!||In regards to the spiders everywhere, she ( the hotel manager) said that this is normal since there is a lake nearby! By mentioning that we’ve been to other places with a lake and there were no insects however, she told us that “ this is Bulgaria”!!!||In regards to the spiders, on our first day one of the housekeeping staff suggested that we buy Ride!!!||Water was leaking from the sink in the kitchen and no one fixed it for the whole stay!!! When asked the reception about it, they told us that the part needs to be changed and it will take sometime. ||Also on the day of our arrival... the drawers and wardrobes in the bedrooms were not clean... hair from previous guests and dust inside...||On the walls in the bedrooms one can see marks from killed spiders and flies!!!||By the pool there are some sun beds and 3 umbrellas, all covered in spider nets and spiders! How hard can it be to keep them clean for your guests! Very...

Pluses:||very big apartment ( we had a master bedroom, bedroom for kids and living room, I think maybe more than 100 square meters), plenty of room for us and our 2 kids, spectacular view to the sea and lake( had a view on both sides), very good positioning of the hotel, kind and polite receptionists. The sea is wonderful, very good for kids, shallow water. There is a long narrow landstrip that starts not far from the hotel where is nothing, just black sand and wild sea and where one can walk in the evenings. Also a nice swimming pool, but they shoul forbid kids jumping and splashing all around,sometimes it was impossible to swim there( there is a sign for that but it is disregarded and no one from the hotel takes action)||||Minuses:||The hotel has an issue with cleaning, the apartment was dirty when we checked in. Also afterwards not much cleaning, we had to buy a broom to clean the apartment||No hairdryer, very small garbage bin in the kitchen, no mosquito nets on the windows.||We had a 9 night stay and the breakfast was absolutely the same each day, no variation at all||But these are small things compared to the beauty of the sea and scenery. ||What really bothered us was that there was no water for 2 days, some pipe broke and the whole town didnt have water. That was really annoying.||||Pomorie is not a cheap town in terms of eating.The restaurant in the hotel is also very expensive, I expected it to be cheaper, we soon realized that we have to cook more than we planned, even this way food at supermarket was more expensive than expected.||To sum it up, I would return there, the beauty of the sea/lake, the beach , the fact that is not too crowded beat the rest of inconveniencies(except lack of...

This was my second stay in Gardenia. I was good surprised with the fully refurbished 2-bedroom apartments. The biggest PLUS are two balconies - one facing to the sea and another one - to the lake. Amazing panorama views!!! Especially the sunsets!!! Unforgettable! Yes, spiders, small day flies, but you are in the real nature - between the salt lake and the sea. The location is one of a kind. It is really nice place for the nature lovers. When the road finishes, it starts a kilometers long sand stripe between the lake and the sea ...you can go walking far away on this path until you reach Akheloy. There is a kilometers long, unsecured large beach with black sand, which is very healing because of saturation with iron oxide. You can go and wrap in the mud and stay so black for 15 mins and after go to the sea and wash yourself in the salt sea water. The place is unique! Here nature has concentrated a great healing power for treatments of musculature disorder.|When you decide to go in the busy town center - no problem - you can go walking for up to 15 -20 min. Lots of dining options and supermarkets around. I love the quietness of this place, the warm sea, the truly comfortable self-catering apartments. Will be back in June next...
