Hopefully I'll save a few people's vacation. In short, I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone.
Bad reviews really don't lie in this case and it's surprising how accurate they all are.
Let me list the pros and cons of this hotel
Cons: The meal was terrible. it's really strange that hygiene hasn't closed it yet. Every day I found something that was spoiled (rice, corn, eggs, ham, peaches, sausages) What was not spoiled was used the next day for another dish. Overall, the food was tasteless and lacking in appeal.
-The drink was only powdered concentrate mixed with water. There were only 2 flavors and you were only allowed that if you were all inclusive. Instead of coffee, they served us black water, I don't even know what it was, but it only had coffee in the name. Only at breakfast did they turn on the coffee machine, but the beans tasted burnt and even that was undrinkable. If you did not arrive within 30 minutes of the restaurant opening, you are referred to cheap plastic cups. Unfortunately, you get used to it. You will have to drink from them everything that the hotel offers (wine, coffee, alcohol, just everything)
-The staff is unpleasant, but there were a couple of exceptions among them who were kind of neutral. One gentleman from the bar was very friendly and was the only one who was interested in how we were doing and always smiled, and the other, on the contrary, was so unfriendly that I have never seen anything like it. He even refused to pour a drink when he was in a really bad mood, which he had almost every day. So, unfortunately, you won't make much use of your all-inclusive benefits and you'll avoid the bar.
-The rooms are old but nothing terrible. It's enough for a night's sleep. Wifi is weak and keeps dropping out.
-The hotel's overall approach to guests is terrible. If you arrive early and tired from your journey, be prepared to wait until 3:00 p.m. before getting a room. Until then, you still have to pay for everything.
-The hotel does not have an assigned part of the beach. You will have to pay for a sunbed and umbrella or find a free zone where you can stay without paying. There are not many free zones because every other hotel has its own reserved places on the beach.
The hotel does not have any events of its own and does not offer any activities for children except for the small pool, which is crowded from the morning. Only exception was rooftop pool which i will get to in the pros
Pros: The air conditioning in the rooms was functional and cooled pleasantly.
-The rooftop pool, for which you have to pay quite a bit more, is one of the small advantages because of its view and the fact that there is usually no one there.
-You will lose weight because you won't eat much.
-If you need to take revenge on someone for something, you can recommend Hotel Lilia to them and they will do it for you :)
And this is probably the end of the hotel's positives.
Other benefits are related to the surroundings and have nothing to do with the hotel.
-Night life is great, lots of bars, great drinks, live music every night. With friends or family, it's a really wonderful experience. In the evening, the beaches are mostly quiet, but on the contrary, the bars are busy and fun, everyone can find something for themselves.
-A huge number of restaurants where everyone can find something for themselves and at good prices.
-In the area there is the possibility of a large number of trips that are really worth it.
To sum it up. I can't think of a reason why you should visit this hotel.
Some of the reviews are a few years old and still accurate to this day. The management of the hotel does not care about you and does not have the slightest interest in changing anything.
If you want a flawless vacation on the golden sands, I recommend choosing among the GRIFID hotels that maintain a high standard.
I hope you have a...
Read moreSeriously!!!? The staff are unbelievably rude. They are VERY horrible to the kids, the pool man keeps touching the kids (seriously). The pool man touched my son (and i have him on camera) and a little girl in an inappropriate way. Management didn't do anything! Maid doesn't clean or make the beds/bedroom. She only gives you new toilet roll and towels. Doesn't do anything else. She also ignores the fact that you have a "DO NOT DISTURB" sign on your door and just walks straight into your room...even though you keep shouting "NO" to her before she comes in,She will just see an arse in the air if she keeps walking in next time. You have to pay for EVERYTHING in this pants hotel!!! Pay for pool/snooker,pay for internet(14 lev per person, per wk, per device), pay for mini bar in your room even though you're all inclusive. Pay for the Gym which looks like stuff you get from a garage sale. Pay for table tennis (and if you wack the ball a little hard, then it breaks into two). All inclusive starts at 10am and finishes at 10pm(even though it says at the bar that it finishes at 12pm). After 10pm you have to pay for the drinks (even if you're All Inclusive). You can't take good or drink upto ypur room or you will be charged 500 lev (about £250). Both pools aren't heated...so you cant swim unless you want to freeze your bits off!!! Hotel ONLY uses one taxi company and they're not trust worthy. ONLY EVER BOOK A TAXI WITH "TRIUMF". Triumf taxi's will charge you 16 lev for a single trip to Varna city but the taxi company the hotel uses charge a minimum of 20 lev and goes up in price. Plus they're really aggressive and i get the feeling they will drive you somewhere and mug you or hurt you...just a feeling. If you want to walk up a million steps opposite the hotel to get to the bus stop...then do it...only costs 3 Lev each way on the bus. Get bus no 109 to varna city and 409 back to Golden sands. I won't ever come back here!!! Hotel is the second worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Food is barely edible. Chicken soup was Luke warm water with some sort of questionable meat in it and veg, Didnt taste like chicken soup at all. All hot drinks come out of this machine and tastes not very nice. I had to keep going to varna city just to get a decent cup of coffee. Anyway...to sum up....TERRIBLE HOTEL AND THE STRAY DOGS THAT CONSTANTLY LIVE OUTSIDE THIS HOTEL WOULD EVEN TURN DOWN THE FOOD AND A NIGHT INSIDE...
Read moreI will begin this review by saying that over the last 15 years, I was traveling all around the world with my wife, stayed in many many hotels but this one is the WORST ever! CONS: The day I arrived I had a shock entering the room, everything was old, the power outlet was coming out of the wall, unrenovated, the 15 m2 room and in the bathroom you didn't even have room to turn around. The toilet bowl located 10 cm from the shower, not even a 5-year-old child could not sit on that toilet. I immediately asked for a paid room upgrade at the reception, but we were brutally refused. I then noticed that the pillows, bed linen and towels were so yellow and worn that you simply hated to use them, so I went with my wife to IKEA in Varna and bought everything related to bed linen and towels! The air conditioning system in the room had not been cleaned for 20 years, it almost didn't manage to cool the room unless it was left running all day, and at night, even though it was turned off, it started vibrating out of the blue for 20 seconds, enough to wake you up!
The "view" from the room was towards a wall where a power generator or air conditioner generator was mounted, which made a terrible noise non-stop. The parking, although listed at 15 leva/day, was nowhere near that, we were told by at the reception that it is full and that we have to park at a hotel 400 m away for 20 leva/day. I don't even want to mention the meals included in the half board, very poor, the same kind of food every day, the total lack of taste and quality (some tourists even got sick). The plates and cutlery were always sticky...... They also didn't even offer water from the dispenser at the tables, which seems scandalous to me. This hotel has no beach bar, it does not have a private beach, it does not offer any kind of evening entertainment like other hotels. On the last day of our stay it rained, the water seeped through the ceiling to the ground floor next to our room. There would be many many many more negative things to say, but I'll stop here. I would conclude without exaggerating that this hotel does not deserve more than two stars, it seems forgotten by time from all points of view! AVOID AS MUCH AS YOU CAN, EVEN IF YOU HAVE ALREADY BOOKED, TRY TO GET YOUR MONEY BACK EVEN...
