A bunch of friends booked for me and my wife last weekend in Arbanasi, Bulgaria, wich is an ancient village, since about 12-th century, nearby Veliko Tarnovo. I must say it was my first time in Bulgaria, till then I was just passing through Bulgaria in my way to Greece or Turkye. So, I had a very pleasant surprise. This complex Izvora have two main buildings, a restaurant in and outdoor, swimming pool with sunbeds and umbrellas, a mini zoo park with rabbits, peackocks, ducks, chickens, turtles who runs free in the garden for all children's pleasure...The rooms are simple but very clean, bathroom also, mini bar inside with beers, sodas, wather, chocolate and some other things, tv and air conditioned. The swimming pool is a little bit deep, 1,7 meter, so be carefull with children! You can lay down by the pool all day long, catching tan , drinking something or else...Food at the restaurant is fabulous. I've tryed so many local traditional courses and they're very good. Prices are very good, not expensive, staff at the restaurant is nice, kind and careing. Every night is live music in the restaurant. In addition, I must say that there are so many people who came in this restaurant for lunch from cruises on the Danube river, from Ruse, wich is a bulgarian river town.So from there they are taking the buses inside the country to reach this famous restaurant.I would recommend that place anytime and I'm sure I will go back soon. So, enjoy...
Read morestayed 3 nights here. when arrived, we really liked the front entrance, the nice looking and lovely lobby. One of the front desk girls didn't speak much English and wasn't very helpful. All she could say was "I'm sorry, I am new here..." (we were asking for a hairdryer) Well it was fine with me until we got into the room. we had a room in front of the pool. It's nicely decorated in a vintage way. However, everything seemed to be very old too. The shower door was broken, and the drain looked rusty and dirty. And the water never went down the drain while taking a shower. One night the water pressure was extremely low that made the shower really pailful. The mattress was so old that every time I moved slightly, it made loud squeak sound. And the swimming pool was extremely dirty. The water was greenish with a lot of dead bugs inside. Every guest I saw coming to the pool was shocked and left right away. (They finally cleaned it on the day I checked out). Other than those problems, the breakfast was ok and the location was good. But the hotel really needs a renovation and good maintenance if they wanna keep guests...

And without a shower cabin, you are supposed to wash directly on the floor.||With some discussions at the reception we succeeded to have it changed, even though initially was 'no free room'.||Worth mentioning that we asked for a king size bed, they did the reservation but did not mention that only separated beds are available.||Then we tried to find a table for lunch. Nobody was paying attention to us, and when we finally sat at one, a waiter appeared asking us to free it up, everything was reserved. It was later that we found out that not all the tables were occupied, but the waiter was too rude to tell us.||Breakfast - is self service, only instant coffe served in plastic cups, the same for the tea.||What made my nerves up most was the fake butter and the fake honey.||As it was written on packaging the Butterland butter was actually 61% oil palm, and the honey was no honey but glucose fructose syrup with preservatives...||We had been in Izvora in 2011, but there was other service level and products.||Now it does not worth the effort to come here,...
