Hemus hotel — Hotel in Vratsa

By checking in there was a language barrier. The frontdesk employee was doing her best, a colleague who was more skilled into the English language wanted to help but she didn’t let her. It looked a bit unprofessional. Language barrier by the bar. Staff barely speak English. that is not a problem; but they didn’t do effort to fully understand the order and just nodded yes while they didn’t understand. I do not joke when 50 percent was mistaken or not served out. Even when we used translate; they weren’t paying attention to get our orders right. Also; they didn’t take the time to let us finish our order. A drink? Oké. And they walked away while we still wanted to ask for food (happend a couple of times). breakfast is meh

Beds are horrible. Old and getting backpain. You can feel the bed springs. Blankets too thin, pillow doesn’t support. They made my room without permission. Not really nice if there are valuable things you couldn’t take away beforehand.

-Swimming pool was empty and gym was closed. Still paying full price.

Don’t go to the casino “Nice” connected to the hotel. The casino business stinks. With higher amounts of money the machine rejects your money. The employee will come around and put in her own “money” and the machine directly takes it. It can happen once, but all of the 50 biljets fresh from ATM got rejected and replaced by the employee her own biljets. Above all; we tried 2 machines and didn’t get a gain out of it at all. It only lowered from the startpoint. We put in some money; we can take our lose but it didn’t raise above our bet. It is a shadey business.

The rooms were incredibly hot and we got very little sleep because of the hot temperature. The staff mentioned that it is central AC, but it's as if there is no AC at all. There is a unit in the room but it doesn't work and just blows the hot air around. I would not stay again unless the temperature was fixed. On the plus side, the pool is nice and at a perfect temperature and there's also a bar with seats and tables by the pool. The small gym is very worn and seems like the weight machines are all broken. The restaurant area is a nice place to meet with friends but the cocktails were very small pours that only filled less than half of the martini shaped glass. The location is perfect though. No one selects a hotel because they expect an emergency: normally one’s criteria is comfort, cleanliness and courtesy. However, I can honestly say that when we had an emergency, the staff were fantastic. Although busy with a wedding reception, once we informed reception that we needed medical help with one of our group, they couldn’t have been better. No only did they contact the paramedics, they provided a translator who stayed with us through out. Not only that, but he drove us back to the hotel after the paramedics had advised that the sick child should go to the local hospital. ||So we owe a big ‘thank you’ to Sylvester and the wonderful staff of the Hemus Hotel and hope that our next visit will be...
