One extremely rude member of staff ruined what was an otherwise very pleasant stay in this hotel and he is the sole reason for the one, rather than five, star review.
It is never acceptable customer service to be shouted at, especially when we were merely asking questions about the payment of the bill. As we needed to visit an ATM, we asked if we could pay the outstanding $15 to THEIR tuk tuk driver on the way to the bus (tickets for which we had purchased through the hotel) via the ATM. Rather than explain it was not possible in a kind and regrettable fashion, we were shouted at and made to feel like thieves. I believe the man's name is Mr.T. He should not be in a customer facing position because he simply lacks the required skills to deal with customers in an amicable and professional manner.
If it wasn't for this completely unnecessary outburst from this member of staff, they would have been given five stars. The hotel was clean, comfortable and extremely good value. All the other members of staff were polite, friendly, helpful and a credit to the hotel. The food was excellent, the pool incredibly inviting, and the hammocks under the trees provided a truly relaxing way to read a book or simply chill.
We took a day tour with Sokha, who we cannot recommend highly enough. He is extremely friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about sharing Battambang with tourists. Sokha was the highlight of our time in Battambang and someone Mr.T should aspire to be more like. If you would like to contact Sokha directly, his contact details...
Read moreHonestly the hostel itself is 5 stars, we loved our stay here. Beautiful room, lovely pool area, the staff are lovely and the food is pretty okay. Stay here 100%. However, I lower the stars because of my experience booking the bus with them and their response (or lack thereof) since. I booked a combo ticket with bus and ferry to Koh Rong. My accom in Koh rong kept asking me what time ferry I was getting so I asked, the answers they gave me ranged from no idea, to 8.30am to 1.30pm. So instead they gave me the name of the ferry company so I could just send that to my accom and ‘they’d know’. So I did. The bus was totally fine, really comfy however it was an hour late but no one’s fault. When I got the ferry terminal I got sent to a different company to the one I was told. This messed up the info I’d given the hotel so had to rectify that. It was with Romny instead of speed ferry. I discovered that they don’t stop at M’Pay bay despite me confirming this with reception when I booked because my return ferry would be from M’Pay on Samloem - I made sure of this because I wanted to make sure it would be easy so I double checked before I paid. Speed ferry DOES go to M’Pay, Romny does not. So I emailed the hostel, and asked why this had happened and if there was a way to correct. I emailed twice and was completely ignored. Overall, I just felt they lacked complete knowledge of a service they were selling and hence made making travel arrangements difficult, and overall...

Bathroom was full of mould, dirty sink and dirty bed sheets. The locks on the doors hardly work. On our last evening the STAFF of the hostel starting fighting and beating each-other up leading to one of them being clean knocked out, probably due to the fact they were all drunk (one of them in particular was extremely intoxicated). The next morning they didn’t issue any apology what so ever and we’re more concerned with what drinks we had ordered so we could pay for them. They said some weird things to guests and were constantly trying to get you to order alcohol. At one point “females got free shots” which didn’t sit right with me. There was also one staff member constantly recording guests, our group in particular.
Lastly, we paid for a private van to take us to Phnom Penh which was meant for 8 people only and instead have been crammed into a van with 5 other people and our leg space now occupied with luggage. Appalling service.
In the end I did not feel comfortable at this hostel especially when the staff are fighting each-other and constantly...
