Okay, the tapenade was awesome, apart from the cucumber. Not a great fan of sliced cucumber. They sell pizza by the whole pizza, or by the slice. Tonight's had 3 Regina. Tomato sauce, mozzarella, cooked ham White queen. Cream, cheddar, bacon and onions Chicken curry. Tomato sauce, mozzarella, chicken curry and onions. The chicken curry was my least favourite, but still damn good. $1.5 a slice, pizzas start from about $5.50 and go up to $9.00. They have a wood fired pizza oven, that they can obviously drive, and the crust is awesome. Crust is so important. Topping could be a little more favourable, but still, the best pizza in Battambang for sure. And I have tried the most of the rest. The worst being The pizza company. How can they kill something like pizza? They serve crepes and pizza rolls as well. Can't comment on either, but the pizza roll is a pizza that is rolled up before it is put in the oven, so I am tempted. About 5 desserts, I'm having the passionfruit pannacotta. Which was remarkably delicious. Draft beer is Tiger for $1.50 a glass, and they look like they have the usual suspect behind the bar in case you want something from the top shelf. Happy hour from 5 till 7 pm. The wait staff are attentive and speak pretty darn good English. The place is a neat little French style villa. You can dine inside or outside amongst the vegetation. Music is a chilled out standard and is unobtrusive. The worst thing is, they are not open on Wednesdays and they don't open till 5pm. The toilets are clean...
Read moreWe have been to La Cassa for pizza and drinks a couple of times so we decided, on this occasion, to give La Pizza Battambang a crack at the whip to compare these two restaurants.
We were greeted upon arrival, which was nice. We felt La Cassa's welcome paled in comparison.
We sat outside in the lovely garden and were attended to quickly by friendly and efficient waiting staff.
The garden and indoors has lovely lighting and the seating is arranged for intimate diners and groups. Also, one is not squashed in and there's plenty of space.
Prices at La Pizza compare favourably too and we felt we got better value at La Pizza.
We ordered a starternof anchovies with olives and it arrived with small slices of crispy bread and a heap of raw carrot and cucumber crudites. It was really nice!
We ordered 3 slices of pizza and each was tasty.
We shared the food.
We had 4 glasses of red wine between us.
The bill came to just over $14. Good value.
I prefer La Pizza; however, the pizza base was better at La Cassa.
I really liked the ambience and service at La Pizza and so I am probably more likely...
Read moreLa Pizza is undeniably a super popular dining spot in Battambang, with a constant stream of patrons creating a bustling atmosphere. The staff on shift deserve high praise for their accommodating nature, working tirelessly under immense pressure to seat everyone, even with two very large tables seemingly occupied by the establishment's own staff dining in for the evening—adding an extra layer of strain on resources.
It’s great to see vegan pizza options on the menu, a thoughtful inclusion for those with dietary preferences. Unfortunately, my order fell short of expectations. The flavor was overwhelmingly bland, with the only discernible taste coming from what I assume was a peanut-based vegan "cheese" sauce. The pizza desperately needed more seasoning or toppings to enhance the flavor—perhaps mushrooms, garlic, or a well-seasoned base would do the trick.
While the vibrant atmosphere and hardworking staff are commendable, the lackluster pizza left me unsure if I’d return. Hopefully, improvements can be made to the vegan options to match the high-energy vibe of...
