Phka Kravan Boutique — Hotel in Kampot

Deceptive Pictures and Unsafe Conditions at Phka Kravan Boutique My family and I booked a stay at Phka Kravan Boutique, lured by the beautiful photos and descriptions, but were deeply disappointed and even concerned for our safety. We specifically chose Room 107 for its promised waterfront view, only to find the reality was a far cry from the online images. The balcony overlooking the river was a significant hazard. The wooden boards were dry-rotted and unsecured, making it genuinely unsafe to walk on. Inside, the room was infested with ants and spiders. We had to ask the front desk for insect spray just to make the space habitable, a request that should never be necessary at a hotel. The issues didn't stop there. The shower was impossible to use comfortably, as the water was either scalding hot or freezing cold with no in-between. To make matters worse, the hot water seemed to be linked to the bathroom's exhaust fan, as the fan would shut off whenever the hot water was on. This created an unpleasantly steamy and stuffy bathroom environment. We also discovered a massive gap at the bottom of our main door. We were so worried about insects or other critters crawling in that we had to use a robe belt to wedge it shut at night. Finally, the most egregious deception was the "open deck" pictured with a man grilling on the Google images page. This is not a common area for guests to use. It is, in fact, the owner's private porch which you get glared at if trying to sit. Overall, our experience at Phka Kravan Boutique was one of constant deception and disappointment. We stayed here for two nights and were fairly happy with our stay. The hotel is nicely located by the river and the rooms are quite modern and well-kept.

There are some things that could easily have boosted their score, and I am not sure why the management does not immediately deal with this.

The wifi is terrible, which means that you cannot work from your room. This meant that we needed to find a separate location to work from, which is very inconvenient.

There was no cleaning and no replenishment of coffee/water between nights. When my friend asked about this, the management said they were out of stock. Hmm, okay? They never followed up and provided this later.

There is a chair placed outside of the room, which is very old and moldy. Not sure why it is placed there since I think nobody in their right mind would chose to use it. This same type of dirty/moldy chair was placed inside of my friend's room, so I guess we were more lucky!

The staff was really nice, and if they fix the above-mentioned I would not mind coming back. Especially the wifi is a big issue, since I need to work from...
