Nestled in the charming town of Kampot, Cambodia, 1960 Restaurant is a reasonably priced restaurant that reflects the heart and soul of the country’s finest regional cuisines. Helmed by an accomplished chef from Phnom Penh, this isn’t just a place to eat—it’s an experience that begins the moment you arrive. The chef’s warm and welcoming personality sets the tone, making every guest feel like family from the start.

After successfully running three restaurants, the chef brought her talents to Kampot, creating a space that blends tradition with a modern family-friendly twist. The property is thoughtfully designed, spacious enough to accommodate live entertainment and a playground that keeps the little ones entertained—perfect for a Saturday outing with the whole crew. Whether you’re there for a relaxing Khmer breakfast or an exquisite dinner, the ambiance strikes a balance between laid-back and refined.

Dinner at 1960 Restaurant starts with a unique touch: you can order from the bar while enjoying a drink and good conversation. When your meal is ready, the attentive staff will either escort your party to a table or let you savor your dishes right there at the bar—your choice. It’s this kind of flexibility that makes the place stand out.

The menu is a love letter to Cambodia’s culinary heritage, showcasing authentic Khmer dishes that highlight the best of the country’s regions. From traditional Khmer noodle dishes to perfectly steamed fish and standout appetizers, every bite is a testament to the chef’s skill and passion. What’s more, the menu includes a thoughtful children’s selection, ensuring that even the pickiest eaters leave happy.

If you’re in Kampot, 1960 Restaurant is a must-visit. Bring your appetite, your family, and your friends—the chef’s hospitality, the playground, and the exceptional food will keep you coming...

BEST Khmer food in Kampot 😻

I met Darin in Siem Reap and she told me about her restaurant 1960 so I made a special visit whilst in Kampot and I was blown away!

Incredible food, with a twist on a traditional menu/flavours. Everything made with love and so fresh tasting.

Must have the salt and pepper squid it is to die for, coming from an Aussie.

The whole fish was amazing and such a good portion size, perfectly crispy on the outside and full of flavour.

Really delicious smoothies with yummy flavour combos. We ordered the special which was caramel pineapple with vanilla ice cream and green peppercorn - very interesting flavours and great combination!

Lovely spot would be perfect to bring kids, lots of grass, cute dogs and a trampoline.

Most important Darin, she is an absolute gem and the most down to earth woman. She pours so much love into what she does and it...

1960 is the perfect spot, either you've been in Cambodia for a while or just for a visit. The little corner of paradise that is this place offers everything you need for a successful meal: a caring owner, talented cooks, beautiful and well mainted huge garden. Darin, the owner, is the only person who does real Khmer food in a semi-gastronomic way. All ingredients are fresh and well cooked. I tried the soups, the curry of caw tong, the seafood salad and of course the steak! They also play khmer music from the 60' as playlist. 1960 is a culinary and sensorial experience 5min from the center of town and I strongly recommend to give her a visit if you...

I really enjoyed DeliCious when that was the name of the restaurant, it is now named 1960, but the food is even better! With the addition of Khmer traditional dishes, it’s absolutely on fire! This gal (Darin) knows good food. Every single dish I have eaten, western or Khmer, dessert or entrée, has been so darn amazing that I tried it again at least once. If you’re in the Kampot area, I co-sign the quality of the food at 1960 as someone who’s eaten and enjoyed Darin’s food dozens of times, and encourage you to try it out for yourself.
