Le Kree Downtown Hotel - Phnom Penh — Hotel in Khan Sen Sok

I had a mixed experience staying here. The facilities are fine but a bit run down. The air conditioning barely worked which isnt ideal in 38degree celsius weather. The staff are friendly but screwed us over.

We had withdrawn US dollars from an ATM, which only gave us $100 bills. We ordered some drinks and used one of the $100 bills. They gave us $80 in change, but when we went to use the money at a restaurant, they wouldn't accept it because it was badly creased. We were told that in Cambodia you cannot use creased or torn bills.

Even when ordering from the hotel, they would not accept the notes that they themselves had given us. We are now stuck with $80 cash that we cannot use, and we are not American so it’s not like we can just save it for when we get home.

If they had explained this to me when we tried to pay after ordering, I would have broken the note elsewhere and come back. This whole experience left me with a sour taste in my mouth and a feeling that I had been scammed.
