I rated 4 stars primarily based on my ocean villa. My rating for the staff would be 3 stars as they need to be more attentive.|The resort's taxi boat guy was waiting at the pier to transfer me to the resort. I was also transferred back to the pier.|My room was great. Nice and clean, fresh linen and semi firm mattress. Power point either side of the bed. The aircon unit was the quietest I have come across in a long time and I travel for a hobby. There are a number of different light fixtures which made the lighting adequate. Just enough shelving to lay clothes and a section to hang. I did not use the mozzie net as there was a can of insect spray so I just used that. |Unlike the cheaper bungalows behind which have aircon and fan the ocean villa only had aircon which I found surprising.|The bathroom is of good size with segregated shower area. If you enjoy really hot showers you will be happy here. The basin has hot water as well. Not having somewhere close to the shower to hang your towel was a negative. I did not use the bathtub so can't comment if it would fill up with hot water. The backout curtains do their job. Towels are provided for the beach.|The balcony was a nice size with table and two chairs plus a sofa. There is a foot washer at the bottom of the steps. An unexpected positive was the sensor light which would come on at night so you could see where to put your key if you forgot to turn on the balcony light before going out.|There were only a few menu options from a board but the American breakfast was fine for me. I was surprised I got a real sausage and not a hotdog.|I had dinner at the restaurant one night and had no problems with the food. Yes, if you need to have 100 menu options to choose from then walk down the beach and check out other resort's menus.|Having returned after four years I found most of the beach pretty disgusting with trashed that has been washed in and also the number of runoffs in to the sea with who knows what in it. Though to their credit Sol Beach Resort had staff out cleaning the property's beachfront area from around sunrise.|Overall, I had a comfortable and...
Read moreMy husband and I chose this hotel based on google reviews. We booked the 7 person family house thinking it would have two bathrooms, as other family members were traveling with us. However, there was only one bathroom in the villa. I can not imagine how a family of 7 could enjoy their vacation with the only bathroom in the villa. The food in the hotel was not good at all. The resort is dead quiet. However, the main thing that made us disappointed are the lies we've been told to once we arrived at this resort. Out of two generators, the hotel had one that was not working, which means no electricity or wifi during certain times of the day. Imaging coming to a place to relax, but wake up at 5am in sweat. That's the experience we had for paying $400 for 3 nights in this place. First, the resort could have informed us prior to arrival so that we could have canceled and booked another place. Second, we were told we would be refunded 20% of the overall paid amount due to this inconvenience, which would be $400*20%=$80 Secondly, we paid in Riel for our first lunch, and they hit us with a fee for paying in local currency. Then they couldn't calculate our change properly. After that, they never charged us this fee, which should have been a huge red flag. In addition, we had to check out 1 night earlier as it was not possible to stay here longer due to no electricity in this boring place. We also were lied to, that the hotel would refund us the unused night. One week later, we reached out to Expedia as there was no trace of refund from the hotel even though they promised it to be refunded within this timeframe. After raising a ticket with Expedia on this issue, the response we get is that the hotel refunds only 20% of the first night because it becomes a he said she said situation. Why? Did we have uninterrupted electricity during the second day? This resort is a SCAM....
Read moreA piece of my heart is still at Sol Beach in Saracen Bay. This resort is perfect for couples or families with great accommodations for both. Our family of 5 + one friend fit perfectly in the 6 person bungalow 3C. Location is perfect about halfway between the two main peers.
It was even more beautiful and peaceful than the pictures indicated. The beach goes out 50 meters with the water at waist level. Kids played and swam every day and didn’t need shoes the sand was so white and clean. At low tide they caught crabs and played on the sand.
As far as the place and staff we can’t say enough for how helpful and accommodating they were. The spa access was nice and affordable. Meals were well prepared especially the beautiful buffet breakfast every morning. I was able to eat a big breakfast and skip lunch or just have a smoothie most days.
The facilities were clean and beautiful. Comfortable beds and great air conditioned bungalows. Bathroom was very big and luxurious with separate tub and shower. Front porch was delightful to hang out. My wife did yoga on the porch every morning.
I will say this. We would have loved to stay longer and look forward...
