Punleu Raksmey Boutique — Hotel in Siem Reap

Unfortunately I did not have a good experience here and had to leave early. The only good thing about this place is the friendly staff who is genuinely so sweet and helpful, but that does not change the other facts.. I want to mention that I am a backpacker and used to staying in budget places or dealing with bugs but even this was too far.

Our first room was completely ant infested. Like I know this is Cambodia and believe me I just slept in a tent on the beach, so I’m okay with a few bugs. However, once I found 20 in my bed and hundreds in my back pack, I was furious. The hall is ant infested, their front desk is covered, everywhere.

Our bed had a duvet INSERT. The one that you DONT wash, with no sheets or anything. No pillowcases either.

The staff boasts about the “nice pool” which is literally black water and looks nothing like the photos online. There is no outdoor bar or restaurant area like the photos.

The bathroom smells AWFUL. In EVERY room. The toilet seats are black and yellow and so nasty. Also covered in ants. The sink was covered in ants too as well as our bathroom products. It’s not clean at all I can see dirt and cobwebs everywhere.

We finally asked nicely to switch rooms which they gladly did move us to a new one that was significantly smaller but at least no ants. Then the shower doesn’t work. Not even a little, it’s spewing water everywhere.

Scam alert: we booked a deluxe double room which was supposed to have a tv in the room and boasted this incredible breakfast included in the price (photos of breakfast shown on website), as well as free airport shuttle. The tv was clearly taken off the wall, the breakfast was two slices of untoasted white bread, a scrambled egg and half a banana and a 1/4 cup of coffee. The pool was filthy, green in color with bits of plastic trash and string floating in it. There is no free airport shuttle. The pictures are either edited or the hotel has been completely stripped and they are using old photos. Be aware: spend the extra money for a clean pool, better breakfast, ect Photos of listing with actual photos from our trip...

Unfortunately this place was not really ready to receive guests. The rain had caused problems and pool was dingy at best. Not usable,bloke tried cleaning it but fell under. Rooms are fine but sparce. No kettle,hairdryer,safe in room.Good beds. Aircon works well after filter clean. Alot of gecko crap on the windowsills.Water refil and kettle in reception to share.There are major road works outside literally so everything feels a little grubby even though it's clear it's well maintained inside.
