Crazy experience. OK: Location is tranquil, next to the river, seating is lovely with loungers and green spaces- happy thoughts of fresh and healthy sparkle through me as I read the menu ✨️ Then came time to order. I asked slooowly if the cheese in a dish was imported or organic. Google Translate promptly joined, but the waitress looked baffled, and like lighting, exchanged herself with another waitress - unfortunately, she, too, was bewildered, and she, too, couldn't understand the word "imported" or "organic." I pointed to the introduction in the meny: Pages on organic and sustainable tea production. I point to the word organic, then to the cheese dish. She froze. Then I mooed. I. mooed. 😆 And as if by cue, a third and final waiter came running down the stairs to confirm that it was not imported - the tea, no, no, not imported! The cheese I mooed, this time with genuine sadness/ madness. He ran back upstairs, panicking now. He made a call, and then it was confirmed: It's imported, the cheese he yelled down from the veranda in English, and the second waitress explains to me, as delicately as she can that yes ma'm, "the cheese is imported". At this point I'm too afraid to ask if it is...organic? I get the vegetable tempura, resigned. 40 minutes, a dish arrived with no spices inside, tasting of pure oil. Now. I understand these are young people, in school, in training, from villages, some maybe even on their first day on the job. I get we have some wierd expectation as tourists. That's why I give a star. But why why why have they not been trained to understand the words in the menu? It's like going to an advertised tango club 💃 but they can only do the worm. Bizarre, hilarious and exhausting experience for me, confusing and stressful for the staff. But the...

Dining at Peace Cafe was nothing short of blissful, delicious and peaceful (as the name suggests). It was an absolutely beautiful place set in the middle of several plants and trees; the cane furniture only added to the ambiance. The food was scrumptious as well as fragrant and I could taste each ingredient used to prepare the dish. My family and I are vegetarians and Peace Cafe was a hidden gem in a country where there seemingly were not many vegetarian options. Besides, they prepare their food without onion, garlic, fish/oyster sauce or any other additives. We delighted in trying the local Khmer dishes like the 'Vegetarian Amok' and the 'Red Curry' as well as the 'Green Curry'. The dishes here were reasonably priced and they accept USD as well as Riyels. The food was served in a decent amount of time and with smiling faces. All the employees here were absolutely pleasant to interact with, it was easy to communicate with them about what we wanted. They were ready to help and always checked in with us about the food. We couldn't help but keep going back for more meals throughout our trip! They also pack biodegradable takeaway containers with their amazing food if you need them while immersed in a tight day of travelling. I highly recommend the following dishes that my family and I personally enjoyed: Khmer Red Curry, Green Curry, Red Curry, Avocado Roll, Oishi Sushi, Fusion Nachos, Italian Pasta, Pina Colada, Avocado Smoothie and the Ice Coffee. Would love to come back if I have the chance! (The curries were served with chemical free...

Peaceful outdoor space with different seating options, and insect repellent provided. We tried an array of dishes: avocado sushi, lime juice, amok curry, pomelo salad, green mango salad, yoga salad, Thai fragrant soup. This restaurant has the potential to be outstanding, but the dishes could use refinement. The salad ingredients all tasted fresh and good quality, however all the dressings were very lacking in flavour and could have made a huge difference if executed well! Things like soy sauce, spices/seasoning, ginger, more acidity like lime juice, red chilis, etc would have helped. I understand needing to accommodate all palettes, but a nice touch could be if servers asked if diners preferred their dishes spicy, and the kitchen could then add more chilis appropriately! The avocado sushi could have been fantastic if the avocado pieces were ripe, and not hard. The Thai fragrant soup had a nice broth, but the rice noodles were really overcooked.

That being said, all dishes had beautiful presentation! And still extremely nice to have an all-vegetarian...

We recently stayed in Siem Reap for four days and nights and enjoyed some nice meals around the city including a rewarding lunch at the Peace Cafe along the east side of the Siem Reap River. Opening hours are 7:30am to 9pm daily. Here you find a lovely garden setting with numerous tables setup amongst the property trees. There are a handful of traditional tables in an outdoor filed floor area as well. Staff were polite, attentive and timely with their service. Menu is a range of local Khmer and western vegetarian dishes, which we found to be quite good. Prices are reasonable for what they are serving at this cafe. During our lunch, we very much enjoyed the green papaya salad that was vibrant in flavour and very good. The green curry was also quite good. Most liked was the Khmer red curry with sweet potato, this was a sweet and delicious serving that was quite memorable for its good flavour. Overall, we were very pleased with our lunch at Peace Cafe. This is a place we would aim to return to during future visits to Siem Reap.
