I really don't like to write bad reviews about places but this place was really very disappointing in almost all aspects. My self and a colleague stayed in this hotel for almost a month. I will say that most of the staff were quite nice and tried to be helpful.||The rooms tired, they need a renovation. The pillows on the beds were so high that sleeping on them gave one a serious neck ache, not only that but they were also very dirty. We asked for some pillows that one could actually sleep on and we were given old and dirty pillows. Both the rooms had the same issues. One of the rooms had a burn out bulb in the bathroom and it took almost 4 days of asking the reception to change it before they came and changed it. In my room, the fridge had some few drinks in it, one was a box of juice that happened to leak out on to the floor. I called the reception who sent someone to clean it. The used a dry cloth to clean it and spread the juice all over the floor, causing the whole floor to be tacky, every time that I walked on it my feet were sticking to the floor, not a nice feeling. It took 3 days to get the floor cleaned. ||On a particular day, upon our return to the hotel at about 20:00hrs, we had no hot water in the rooms. There was no hot water out of the tap at all. We asked others on the floor and they also conformed that they did not have hot water either..... We called the reception and the man told us that he could move us in to other rooms. We explained that we had been there already about three weeks and did not want to repack and then up pack our stuff again... he said that there was nothing he could do about the water and that the person in charge of it had just left and could not call him.||We had to end up having a shower 2 floors down.||Also if you are going to use the shampoo and soap in the bathroom, it is not nice at all, soap gets all soft and the cleaners will leave the melted soap in the bathroom. The shower gel / shampoo is so watered down that it hardly makes any difference using it or not.||Also, it seems that rooms in this hotel are sued as offices or something, there were a few rooms on our floor that had visitors coming to them every few hours, these included individuals as well as groups that were very noisy. ||On the issue of the restaurant and bar.... the bar and restaurant are one, the food there is totally unacceptable, the only meal that we could eat there was breakfast. Each time that we ate dinner at this place, not only was the food well below the standard that you would expect for the high prices, we would both feel sick the next day. ||I am trying to think of what good thing I can say about this place and the only thing that comes up is some of the staff. They...
Read moreThis "very good" rating is purely value for money, and compare with other around the region.||||Stay here 4 nights on a business trip. Cost was paid for under corporate agreement and was very reasonable, compared to other city around West Africa region. Room is small and old but clean enough. Wifi was free and fast enough for regular web browsing, and worked throughout the hotel. Breakfast, dinner are served in the downstairs restaurant and was reasonably priced. Staff is friendly and quick to response to request. Laundry came back in the same day without any issue. A mini bar with large projector screen, was perfect for the World cup 2014, only wish the quality of the projector and screen was better. AC cannot be adjusted with the supplied remote control. I guess you need to ask the hotel to change the temp on the AC setting. TV is small and has only a few English channel. But the world cup was ON :)||||One negative thing though: the supplied pillows on the bed were very thick and hard, it was very difficult to try and fall as sleep with the pillow this hard.||||The elevator is not reliable. I ended up using the stair...
Read moreI had a one nigh stopover at the Planet Hotel, recently, and I have to say that it was OK. Plenty of oil company staff in residence. The rooms are small, minimally equipped but clean. The AC had a job keeping up with the outside temp but it was (again) OK.||||Free Wifi (slow but usable for emails) TV was extremely small and had only a few English channels which is surprising considering the number of residents from the UK. Theres a small bar in the hotels only restaurant and a further 'lounge' where smoking is allowed.||||The food? I only had dinner at the hotel which was OK - nothing to write home about. Breakfast was less than OK. Not much to chose from and they ran out of coffee and bred, continually.||||The area the hotel is in is a little 'busy' but it felt safe with a few bars and eateries and shops close by. Not too far from the airport. Its an OK place for a short stay...
