Elk Point Motel & RV Park — Hotel in Alberta

Stayed here September 2014.||||Where to begin?||||Well, the door surround has a large crack in it (photo). The security chain has a screw almost out (photo). Most of the carpet areas are stained beyond belief (photo). The bedside lampshade is stained and burnt (photo). There was a toe-nail under the bedside table too, the photo didn't come out well. The drawers have handles missing, scratched and even had an old sock in one drawer (photo). There's a nasty stain over the bed, probably from the room upstairs (photo). The a/c unit is installed badly, lots of silicon sealant, and the filter was choked with dust / dirt (photo). The sink, which is in the main room is chipped (photo) and there's an electrical plug in which powers the toaster, fridge, A/C unit, microwave etc etc which has no GFI (photo) .. don't let your kids near the sink. The lino between the main room and bathroom has a large cut in it (photo). The heater in the bathroom is damaged and hanging off the wall (photo), don't get it wet. the freezer was choked with ice. The taps and shower are at firehose pressure, sure seems that way anyway. Floor boards creak (I was on the ground floor too ?????)||||The only positive was that the bed sheets seemed clean, can't vouch for the duvet.||||I was in room 20 which actually doesn't have an outside window. We were in Elk Point on business, and decided we’d support local business and stay in the town. The other motel was all booked up because of a hocked tournament, so we booked here.||When we pulled up, the exterior of the building was pretty shabby looking, so we didn’t have a great feeling. When we went to check in, there were no staff in the office, and we finally had to call the service number to get someone to come to the motel from offsite.||Check in was smooth enough, as we had booked online. We got our keys and went to our rooms, which was a bit of a challenge as there wasn’t much done for snow clearing a path around the parking lot.||When we got to our rooms, we found very flimsy doors and locks, which, as younger women traveling alone, didn’t make us feel that confident. Once we got into the rooms, it was clear that there hadn’t been much in the way of upgrades or maintenance since likely the 70s (except the small flat screen TVs). It was dingy & dated, stuffy and stale smelling.||We ultimately decided that it wasn’t worth it, and our clients suggested we check out immediately & booked us in to a modern hotel in the next town over so we could get a decent...
