Far better than my expectations. For someone who travels a lot, this place is exceptional and anyone who doesn't think so needs to look closer. We were in the "Preferred Saddleback Suite" and you get designated parking just steps from your bright red door.
Firstly, clean, very clean. You can tell someone who cares cleans the place because it was clean when we got here but when we left for a day, it was very carefully cleaned and respectfully organized. It doesn't smell like scented cleaners or sprays (which we both dislike) it is just clean.
First impression might throw you off a touch, it looks a little unusual from the street but the rear walk ups/Bungalows and cabins are all extremely well cared for. You see it in the wood finishing and the upkeep of the units... I thought much of it must have been replaced this year but on careful inspection it is just very well manicured. I would imagine that the units up by the street are a little noisier but they are also cheaper... Most of this area shuts down by 10pm anyway but people are up on the road early (something to think about if you like to sleep in). Rear areas are almost silent.
Please take a look at the pictures and notice the details in the way the lawns are kept, how the rooms are presented and even the cute Moose Privacy door hanger.
It is almost right across from the entry road to Moraine Lake which is a huge plus when trying to gauge when you can get in there (difficult at times). And is only a few minutes drive from either the Village or Château Lake Louise by Fairmont. There is no substantial meal place on site however they provide fruit bars and other snacks as well as great coffee. Our unit came with a microwave a Kuerig style coffee maker. Some others mentioned having a BBQ but frankly the sites to see in the area require driving or buses and there is plenty in both the price spectrum and food types all around the area so we did not find wanting with food.
I should mention staff were very friendly and helpful... WiFi works fine, it isn't hugely fast but reasonable considering the location. I was just so impressed with the other stuff, almost forgot to...
Read moreLearning how to book and do transport for Lake Louise and Lake Morraine now you can no longer drive to the latter is complicated, not helped by the confusing Parks Canada website. So I'll start on that subject which may make sense to anyone who has tried to already get their head around it.|We stayed here because you can actually walk easily to Lake Louise. You can no longer drive to Lake Morraine, so if you have purchased a shuttle ticket online and you have proof of your Paradise Lodge booking or a room ket, you can get a member of Parks staff at the Lake Louise shoreside parking lot to issue your ticket, then take the shuttle connector to Lake Morraine from Lake Louise and back without going to the park and ride on the other side of town to collect a ticket.|When we booked there was only Wilson cabin type accomodation available. This is a cosy and quaint wooden cabin. It has basic kitchenette facilities, cereal bars and packets of instant oats. There is no restaurant or breakfast available however there are some basic supplies available from reception. In the evening, you have a 5-10 drive into town for restaurants, although you could walk in mid summer when evenings are lighter. The cabin is quite small. The whole property of rooms, appartments and cobins is set within a very pleasant wooded environment. Staff were very helpful. We only stayed for one night but it was very pleasant. However it was CAD 668, £380 for the night which is very high for what you get, that's market...
Read moreWe chose this accommodation based on its location to Lake Louise and Moraine Lake and on the great reviews about it being family owned and run. In the end we chose not to walk to Lake Louise after we saw the small path along a relatively busy road. We also had to drive to the ski resort to get the Canada Parks shuttle. ||We stayed in number 8 Wilson Cabin and while exactly the way it shows in pictures, the musty smell was quite overwhelming as soon as we opened the door. We opened every window possible and the smell quickly dissipated. We had to do this every time we left for the day but not a great inconvenience. ||The furniture has been updated nicely and there is a well stocked kitchenette that we very much enjoyed. The television is small and the satellite was finicky. The gas fireplace was nice to keep us warm on the chilly nights.||The amenities were good - coffee, tea, granola bars and a nice treat of instant oatmeal and we used the barbecue once (very clean!). There is a very handy binder covering lots of aspects of the property and area. The property is well kept and in a gorgeous setting. After exploring, we found some lovely relaxing places to sit and enjoy the views.||I think the biggest disappointment was that it is no longer family run and the reception was less than enthusiastic. ||Perhaps their lodge accommodations are nicer but at $610/night, we settled...
