We brought my parents up for a one night stay and stayed in the 2 bedroom 2 bathroom Sparrow Cabin. Overall it was fairly well appointed but we felt like they hadn't quite finished adding the finishing touches. Upon entry we noticed that there was no where to hang our coats or put our shoes. No hooks or shelves. The only shelf in the hallway held extra bed linens. There was blank wall space in the hallway which would have been the perfect spot to put some hooks for coats. One of the bedrooms had a combination closet with shelf and a closet rod and hangers. The shelf/desk below it was the only place to put our belongings. There was no dresser or table or luggage rack for our bags. The other bedroom had no closet at all and not even a hook to hang anything. Also no dresser or luggage rack or table to put our belongings. In the living room, there were no shelves or side tables next to the sofas. We did not eat at the restaurant as we brought our own food and cooked in the kitchen in the cabin. Front desk service was polite and friendly. The trails to the Eagle viewing area are confusing and not as well marked as they could be. Guests are not supposed to walk on the paved paths which are mainly for golf carts, but the trails cross the paved paths in spots and we saw a number of guests walking on the paved paths instead of the trails that we were supposed to walk on. More and clearer signage is needed. Considering that this is considered a luxury cabin at $600 a night, one would expect a little more attention to detail. It was otherwise a nice cabin and we could consider staying there again, perhaps when they finish...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDo not book your wedding here.
They proudly advertise that they can fit 100-150 people - in a space that would be crowded if 20 people are there. They rush your wedding by only closing down part of the golf course during your ceremony and you will be charged extra if you need more than an hour. The 'spaces' they have for the ceremony are puny. They advertise taking proper covid precautions (this was before the mask mandate changed) but no one was wearing masks outside or inside. They said that staff will eat the food you pay for and guests can't take it home (to make sure the staff gets to eat it - what?). You cannot pick your bakery for your cake and if you decide to not have their bakery you still have to pay for it (really dumb on their part).
The entire grounds - people pay hundreds per day to stay on site, let alone the thousands to book for a wedding - but they can't be bothered to take care of their buildings (cabins) and fix their pool? If their pool is out of commission, at least clean it up so it doesn't look like an algae swamp.
Do not trust anything that is spoken or promised for this venue for your wedding. They will lie and they will twist things to their benefit. You do not come first. Heck, you actually come last - the golfers come before you do and you're spending more money than they are. Ridiculous.
There are other places to book for venues. Go there. Sandpiper Resort/Rowena's Inn on the River is an...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe stayed in the Sparrow cabin and had an incredibly comfortable and enjoyable stay. Each room had its own air conditioning, and we really appreciated the thoughtful, high-end touches throughout the cabināsuch as a welcome bottle of wine, bottled water, San Pellegrino, and a generous supply of coffee and tea for our entire stay. The beds were very comfortable, and the blackout curtains made it easy to get some much-needed, uninterrupted rest.
The text-based communication with the front desk was a great feature. On our first morning, the living room air conditioning stopped working. I sent a quick text for service, hopped in the shower, and by the time I was out, the issue was already resolved (thanks to my family being there to let maintenance in). We were very impressed by how responsive and efficient the service wasāit really reflects the resortās high standards.
We were also at the resort for a wedding, and it was an absolutely beautiful venue. Everything felt luxurious, and the food was excellent. Iām not sure whether it was catered in-house or by an external team, but either way, it was top-notch. A truly stunning location for a wedding!
My husband is a golfer and couldnāt stop raving about the Sandpiper Golf Course. He said it was the best course heās ever played in BC. In fact, he enjoyed it so much, he booked a second round the morning we departed.
Overall, our experience was a 10/10. Weāll...
