Let me start by saying that I actually love this place, so I cannot give it a 1-star review. It's a great place to eat and to stay. We were regular customers at the pub, and we stay at the hotel sometimes. However, sadly, the owners have made it very hard for us to continue a good relationship with the Sasquatch, and I don't think we can go back because of it.
One night, we had brought some friends to have dinner and spend the night. We were given false/conflicting information by the staff. Feeling tricked, I persisted for an explanation. At no point did I raise my voice, insult, swear, or behave inappropriately.
Feeling cornered, one of the staff members lost her temper and loudly mocked and insulted us, embarrassing us in front of other staff and clients, then "dared" us to leave a bad review.
My wife and I are nice people (we're pastors), so we felt a little shaken by the incident, which clearly couldn't be dismissed as OK.
As a business owner myself, I understand that sometimes one of the staff handles things badly. It happens. One bad experience based with one employee doesn't define a whole business. But how a business handles complaints does matter.
In our case, I didn't write a bad review. Rather, I emailed the owners to explain our concerns, saying that perhaps the worker was just having a bad day, then asked if there might be some way to negotiate a resolution. I stated that I wasn't looking to get anyone in trouble, but the way we were treated made it hard for us to return without some kind of acknowledgement and attempt to make things right between us.
To our chagrin, the owners responded defensively and even went so far as to outright insult me in their reply. It seems that their staff gave them a very different version of what actually transpired. Understandably, as they had good reason to give an inaccurate account of things. But rather than looking into it further, the owners simply blindly believed their staff's version without investigating my side of the story or giving me any benefit of the doubt.
When I explained the above and asked to please help us work toward "making up" rather than dismissing us forever as regular customers, they responded as follows: "I am satisfied that you were responded to appropriately. We will not be responding further.".
This makes us so sad. We've been regular customers for many years and had dearly hoped to be able to put things behind us and move ahead, but we feel "kicked out" at this point.
I feel like giving a one-star review based on how I feel at this time, but to be fair, Sasquatch is a good place. But I can't help but drop 3 stars due to the fact that we were mistreated, then dismissed, so we feel like we can never go back.
Owners, I still very much welcome an effort on your behalf to bring closure to this matter, so we can change this rating to five stars and continue as regular clients. Otherwise, please note I think you handled us poorly and it's ended our long-term...
Read moreFriday September 13th my partner and I went to the pub for dinner. When we arrived we were told to seat ourselves after about 5 minutes I got up to get a menu as no one had come to bring us menus. The server came and said oh I am coming I said I was just going to grab menus as you looked busy she said "No I am not busy at all" She asked us what we would like to drink we gave our order, she came back about 5 minutes later and said oh I forgot what you wanted can you remind me. She came back to take our order when she repeated it back she had my partners order wrong but didn't stick around for us to correct her. After about 45 minutes she came back and said that she had forgot to hit send on the order and asked if we could tell her what we ordered because she forgot. We told her again what we ordered I asked if our order would get priority as we had already waited 45 minutes she didn't offer us anything just that it would be out when it was and again she got the order incorrect but left before we could correct her. She came back to the table about 20 minutes later to say that she would take one of our meals off the bill I responded that both should be free. She became very loud and rude and said that I was talking over her and I didn't let her finish her sentence to say that both may be complimentary she complained that she was busy and there were two parties of 12 that they were dealing with, we were there before those parties and as I quoted previously she said that she wasn't busy. She then said "shall I pack it up for you to go shall I pack it up for you so you can leave" I said no we would like to eat it here. When she eventually brought our meals in another 20 minutes she said that we could just get up and leave when we were done. We had been there for more than two hours by the time we received our food and was able to eat it. The food wasn't great the blackened chicken my partner ordered wasn't cooked correctly and cold. We got the feeling that she was being predigested towards us because we are a same sex couple. We noticed her staring at us while we were holding hands at the table. She was definitely more interested in the other patrons more than us. Needless to say we...
Read moreAfter enjoying the day in Harrison Hot Springs, this was a wonderful place to stay for the night. The staff were very friendly, the rooms have been newly redone and were clean and comfortable, and the food in the pub was great! ||||Rooms - The room was small, really only fitting the bed and essentials, but very clean. There was a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker and we took advantage of all. We really liked the rustic chique aesthetic the room had, and was obviously renovated recently. The bed was also quite comfortable. ||The only thing I would have liked (and maybe just a personal preference) was a small comfortable chair for sitting. There was a regular dining chair but definitely not something for sitting and chatting with my partner. It's hard sitting on a bed as we get older!||The other thing was that the air vent started clicking in the middle of the night and kept me awake. I eventually got up and turned it off and it did stop over time and I'm not sure what made it start in the first place.||Other than that, the room was very quiet even despite being off the highway.||||Pub - Such a great atmosphere. The food was very good. I got the salmon burger and my partner got the blue cheese burger with bacon instead of ham (recommend!) with curly fries. We were happy with everything including our server :)||||If your spending time in Harrison Hot Springs or just passing through, I definitely recommend this hotel. ||Also, down the street where the "boat launch" sign is, is a beautiful view and place to either have a picnic or spend time reading. I enjoyed my book for awhile before sunset....
