This hotel is by far THE best hotel I have ever stayed in that far exceeded my expectations. It is my home away from home & never have I ever felt so welcomed and cared for. I arrived much earlier than my check-in time but without a problem was allowed to check-in early. I was greeted by Sophi the general Manager who's warm smile & friendliness was just what I needed after a 16h long travel journey.I was shocked at her kindness which is not something I see often coming from a big city."how come you are so nice"? I asked her." I just love my job" she replied. What a gem of a person! But what made me almost cry was when I told her how hungry I was(I had not eaten since the day before)so she went to the kitchen & prepared me a beautiful plate of delicious breakfast foods(although breakfast was long over)with a warm cup of tea!! It was like I was a guest in someone's home. Now that is what I call a welcome! I was given a room with a full kitchen including stove, microwave, fridge, toaster, kettle, Keurig machine, pots, pans, dishes & utensils. I had two large queen beds that were amazingly comfy. The room had heating, air conditioning, great shower that never ran out of hot water as well as TV, Iron board, hair dryer.. everything you need. It was quiet and unlike most hotels, it was clean, did not have a funny smell when I walked in and pillows did not stink either. The hotel included a gym that I loved working out in. It had a hot tub & steam room for those cold Assiniboia nights. It also had a meeting room that served as a rental for birthday parties on Saturdays & Church service on Sundays. Breakfast was included with delicious options from scrambled/boiled eggs, toast/bagels/waffles, amazing fruit/granola pudding,Chia seed puddings, cereal & for meat eater-bacon and sausages. Fruits were limited to apples & oranges. I did wish they had more variety but I compensated with taking the occasion indulgent banana bread slice that went so well with the good quality tea selection they had such as my favorite Earl Grey tea. I was greeted every morning by Val the dining-room attendant who is a real sweetheart! Val was such a hard-working woman who always made sure the breakfast area was clean and stocked up while making each guest feel comfortable and welcomed by making conversations all while working like a busy bee. She was one of the people that made my stay outstanding & I wish the higher ups would just give her a substantial pay increase as I can assure you those good hard workers like her are rare and hard to find. Then there was the wonderful miss Christina. Miss Christina is the first person I talked to on the phone when I called to make my reservations & right away I felt touched by her kindness & exceptional customer service skills. She really went above & beyond the call of duty to ensure my stay was comfortable. She was THE MOST AMAZING PERSON I HAVE EVER MET. She always smiled & respectfully called me Miss Kathy. She helped me with printing out receipts for my stay & scanning documents. One night she even stayed later even though her shift was over & she was dressed to leave. Miss Christina made me laugh & sometimes when I was lonely I came down to talk to her while eating complimentary guest popcorn that is available from 5-11 pm. I wish I could of brought Miss Christina home with me. Miss Christina is the SUPERSTAR of Canalta hotel & needs to be rewarded by her employers for her outstanding skills. The world needs more wonderful people like her. Other amazing people at the hotel were Miss Jackie. We shared many conversations about our travels. Miss Hannah was also so good to me. Canalta Hotel is all about the amazing staff. Yes, the hotel is awesome but the staff is what makes it EXCEPTIONAL. I can't wait to go back! Thank You Miss Christina, Val, Miss Sophie for making me feel so special & for making my stay...
Read moreGreat hotel. EASILY the best in Assiniboia. The rooms are large, with mini fridges and microwaves which definitely uplifts and enhances the experience of having a small group gather in your room. Every time we’re in town it’s for a funeral. (my Dad grew up there) So ultimately all of the out of town relatives stay here. It seems to be very popular for this as there are always other groups that seem similar. (or kids’ sports teams) My family tends to also rent a large meeting one or two nights of the weekend to host larger gatherings. The staff who handle this do a great job. As to the hotel itself, the beds are pretty hard, but I always travel with my own pillows, which really helps. The rooms (all of our family’s rooms) were very clean and the complimentary breakfast in the lobby has a robust variety of cereals, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, bacon and/or sausage and scrambled eggs. As well as a waffle and an omelette maker. The lady who attends the breakfast is hard working and a true delight. The gals at the front desk are friendly, professional and helpful. I’ll continue to stay here but hopefully for a...
Read moreWe were down there for a funeral in Assiniboia and this was the hotel that was chosen for us. First thing to mention is the service is excellent. The room we had wasn't cleaned very well. I could tell it's a clean only what you can see kinda thing. Our room lamp had cheezie crumbs on it. The second issue is the bed was absolutely hard as a rock and bowed into the middle. I stayed two nights and didn't sleep much both times. The morning breakfast was good I had no complaints. There was one issue though with these field beetles in everyone's room on the 1rst floor. My dad slept on top of the bed so he didn't sleep with them. Us all on the second floor had no issues. It would be nice if there were some kind of food options available after 9 since everything in that town closes up at 9-10. Would we stay there again I'd say probably but that bed was just horrible. Any and all issues we had were quickly dealt with so service was fantastic I can't mention that enough. Thanks for looking after us all during a very difficult time...
