Best Lodge Motel — Hotel in City of Lloydminster

So my husband is working a shutdown in Lloyd Minister. I arrived at this motel and went to check in and the owner(male) says to me that the booking is for 2. I confirm that and he asks me where the second person is. I tell him my husband is still at work and will be arriving in a bit. He very rudely tells me he won’t check me in till my husband gets here cause he wants both our ID’s. I say to him “really?” And he replies “really!” So I’m like ok and went out to sit in my car and wait for my husband to show up. Next thing I know his wife comes out to my car and says, “can I help you?” I say, “ya, I’m waiting for my husband to get here so I can check in!” She starts to go off on me saying that they have the right to know everyone staying in their motel and if I don’t like their policy then I can leave! So I said fine! I will go somewhere else! Next thing I know, they have called the company I booked through and are trying to charge me for the room! They are rude and just scammers! Stay FAR away...

This place has nice renovated rooms, amazingly kind, sincere staff that always went out of their way to make our stays feel like home. Their hot breakfast started so early at 4:30 and surprisingly lasted all the way till 10:30am which needles to say was delicious.The rate for the room was much less than the comparable places in town, and even less than other motels which were in horrible shape. Going out to eat was easy since its located right next to a asian/western buffet, boston pizza, original joes, and mcdonalds. There are two night clubs located about a three to five minute walk away from the motel, and the walmart was literally within walking distance. The bud miller park is also about 5 minutes away, and offers facilities with a gym, and swiming pool with steam rooms.saunas, all the works. I should start by saying theres a bylaw that prohibits ppl outside of Loydminster from staying so if you're a local this review isn't for you.

But I do understand why - but I'll get to the point in a bit. From the outside, it's kinda cute, kinda sketchy. But I usually don't judge a book by its cover. The lady at the front desk was super nice to my bf and gave us a deal when every other sketchier looking place wanted to charge out your -you know what- hole for a deposit and room. She says the room is cozy, not sure of I really believed her to be honest but down to still sleep there, but as we walked into actually a really cozy room. It was rather nice. It's definitely a cheap room for couples so romantic like and helped us understand why locals aren't allowed (uhh a cheap place for John's and working girls, which in the past probably caused problems making that bylaw i mentioned earlier) Nowhere else charged $60 with a $100 and even a smoking room which...
