Sushi Wa — Restaurant in City of Lloydminster

We decided to go there for a lunch on our way through Lloydminster. The place surprised us by being very dark and cluttered. The owners, my guess, are from Middle East; they tried hard but the culture must be too far from Japanese with its attention to details. The food was ok, Japanese style and sauces, but yet somehow it did not turn out Japanese… The tea (we tried green and jasmine) was served in nice teapots but the tea itself was terrible - some no name teabags and the taste of a cooked mop… The owner seemed more concerned about money than is healthy for a business… the lunch rolls for example were made very thin, like less than 1 cm in thickness, so 12 (standard lunch set) were not enough. In another dish, a bento, we asked to replace California rolls with something without fish, due to allergy. It was only four rolls; the server agreed to replace them with cheaper yam tempura rolls but required an extra $3. Overall the experience was fine but somewhat strange; it...

Went there for a late lunch today. I have to say this was not a pleasant experience. The restaurant was not busy as there were only 2 other tables besides us at the time.

Our lunch orders were incomplete (sashimi was missing, no wasabi). The cooked salmon tasted old and burnt (more akin to a plastic taste). The server forgot our rolls until the end of the meal. When they came they looked like they were just tossed on the plate.

The server never came to check on us, or offer us refill until he was clearing the table at the end of the meal.

The food was underwhelming, the sushi was subpar, the beef bento was gross, the chicken was slimy, one piece of chicken wasn't fully cooked and the highlight was the water.

The server didn't know which sushi was which. She said I dont eat this so I dont know, I just put in what you say.

The atmosphere was meh, it was dark in the booth, wood benches with a cushion on it, and combined with the service and food.

This is a place I wouldn't revisit. If your going to pay over $100.00. Something should be...
