Despite having an RFID card lock system the hotel has not thought to apply this technology to the elevators and stairs thus providing no security to guests from unvetted and possibly unwanted visitors (such as the pizza company that posted flyers to every room). The air conditioner smelt musty and did not cool below 20°C. This was not remedied when bought to the attention of front desk. This is a rather important point in an east facing room where there is no central air conditioning for the rooms (which is generally a good feature). Neither was the loose toilet seat repaired over a three day period. However the housekeeping staff were friendly and very helpful when wanted an extra coffee satchel or replacement toilet paper. The bed was exceedingly comfortable. The hotel has one luggage cart which went missing, thanks to some inconsiderate guest deciding to keep it in their room, so they had it at the end of their trip. I object to having to make eight trips rather than one due to poor resource management on behalf of the hotel. Registering the cart use against a room number and to ensure it is returned would be an easy system to implement. The smoking point is too close to the front door and one gets to share the smoking when loading and unloading one’s vehicle as well as in the front of hotel bedrooms that either choose to (or need to due to no air conditioning) open their window. Smokers should me made to move well clear of all public access points and windows as their habit is not a requirement or an enhancement to a non smoking hotel and hotel room. This especially applies to those who feel it is okay to share their drug habit with the wider public. It goes without saying that the ‘smokers’ area’ was filthy and covered in take out litter and cigarette butts. Hardly a great first impression for a guest checking in. There also appears to be no advertised quiet policy which led to a constant stream of expletive laden invective through out the night as non hotel guests finished at a function and decided to act thoughtlessly and loudly whilst waiting for their taxi or moving to their cars. My overall impression from today’s desk staff was that she really did not care at all about any of the issues we raised. Overall a poor experience.

I will start with a positive note on this review. The management was quick to offer a full refund when we checked out 3 hours into our stay. The food from the pub was very well done and enjoyable. Now, upon checking in, we found out we found out we had no control over our AC, and it was set at 75 degrees. After a debate and language barrier with the front desk over the phone, they finally sent a maintenance man to turn down the air conditioner. About 45 minutes later, I turned on the television, hoping to watch local news as there was a weather advisory, to find a malfunctioning TV. I phoned the front desk again, and they said they would have maintenance come back up. I waited 20 minutes and then went down to the desk, only to be informed that the only maintenance person was gone for the day. We decided to go downstairs for a cigarette when we found what appeared to be a homeless individual in medical distress slumped over in the elevator, and we had to alert an EMT of his condition. We noticed several vagrants in the area who were walking in and out of the hotel lobby freely. We had no soap for our hands in the washroom, and the floors were filthy. When we asked the maid in the hallway for handsoap, she insentently kept handing us bars of cold cream. Clearly, it's another language barrier. We chose to leave after all this. The front desk clerk suggested we "upgrade" our 2 bedroom to a 1 bedroom with a pullout couch. I told her that wasn't good enough. Her manager came to the phone and gave us a full refund upon checkout. This all happened in a period of 3 hours, including our time spent in the lounge for dinner. Dinner was great. The suicide wings were large and delicious, I love spicy food, and these had great flavor, not just heat. The bison burger was cooked perfectly, juicy, and topped with great sauce, and the bun held up to the last bite. The quesadilla was probably the largest I've seen in years, crunchy and full of flavor, with a heaping side dish. The lounge staff was friendly and quick to assist in any way possible. They were the only positive part of our brief stop in at this hotel.

A relatively inexpensive hotel. Unfortunately we found the room to be quite dirty. At first glance, it appeared to be clean, but after a while, we noticed the filth. The door pockets were dirty with hair and lint, as well as the baseboards. The edges of the carpet and around the bed legs were very dusty. There was a thick black hair right outside of the shower. Quite disgusting. The pillows are either the sizes of seals and hurt our necks. The one I settled on felt like it was full of socks but was flat. I suggest you bring your own. Fluff in the hair dryer, which is another simple clean. I sound fussy but am a housekeeper myself and would never leave these over looked. The cleaning staff are wonderful, as well as Salba in the lounge. The vending machine ate my money twice (I was reimbursed for one but couldn't be bothered a 2nd) and most of the time had an out of order sign on it. Far from most places, but ample parking. Response to Owner- Not necessary! We won't return to this location, but thank you. When my husband went to the front desk for a better pillow, he was told the one he was given was the LAST pillow you had available. Besides, I think your reply would have addressed the cleanliness, but whatever.

I never reviewed anything or anyone in my life, I never had to , I guess looking back now I was pretty damn lucky . It has taken me since July to get myself here to share my experience . .After various drafts and attempts here it goes His name is Sandor Szenthe general manager at this hotel is a psychopath!!.

He threw me and my boyfriend out without reason and trashed me publicly in the middle of the lobby ! Its taken me this long to come and share this sickening review I've been way to stressed and embarrassed to write what happened . I've never been so crushed and made to feel like scum in my life.

We came to Edmonton for our friend's daughters funeral, we brought our 2 dogs, this hotel is pet friendly ,we chose it because of this.Meanwhile, When we got there we didn't like the room on the 2nd floor (The pet floor) We found it to small . Back and forth, and back and forth we decided on the Luxury Suite, paying more than 200 a night which was steep but it was sure nice .The only thing is no dogs allowed ,which I totally got .Before switching rooms I called my gf in town hoping she could doggy sit for us ,which was cool with her.We checked into the suite and it was fancy ,I sure loved it !However Hell broke loose our third day . My gf called letting me know she had to go out and pick up sandwich trays and platters for the wake. I agreed to have her drop off the dogs to me for a couple of hours ,then she'd take them home again. We set our dogs up in the back of our F150, leashed with plenty of water and kibble and above it all, we parked the truck in a quiet shady stall. The dogs were fine and both my boyfriend and I came down several times to check on them.About an hour in received a phone call from the front desk receptionist asking if the dogs were ours, I said yes,I was asked to hold, a man came on the phone saying he was the General Manager /Owner and we couldn't have the dogs there. No reason given ! I polity asked why ?? He shouted it's my policy its my hotel !

I explained that it would be only for one more hour, and either I or my boyfriend can stay with them until my gf came to get them, He cut me off raising his voice even more p- od ! He went all rogue on me ! Yelling up GET THE DOGS OUT OF HERE OR YOU GET OUT !I hung up on him and lost my mind !! I FLEW downstairs to see him, and I asked him why are you doing this?,both our dogs are fine and they were spending most of the day sleeping and they weren't even barking. He said he didn't care in hearing me out any further ,and told me to leave his hotel immediately ! This is where my life changed ,When I asked him please why ??? he answered that he didn't have to explain himself to the "likes of me" and he had a lot of experience in these situations and "knew exactly what was going on." I was dumbed numb! Speechless! he ignored me completely giving instructions to the receptionist on how to charge us, I kept on talking warning him that I'm going online and writing reviews everywhere about your hotel warning people about you ! he answered nobody will believe you because now your "under the influence" and he turned his back to me .

He crushed me, he humiliated me, he made me feel cheap and dirty I cried as I went upstairs, and couldn't tell didn't my boyfriend the way this man talked to me and what he accused us of, ! My boyfriend would lose it !we came back downstairs, I paid our bill, took one of his cards from the front desk so I wouldn't forget his name and then we left.I told my boyfriend when we left ,needless to say he was furious!

This man is absolutely irate !! the receptionists stood quietly looking down .You can tell they were scared of him!

We didn't do absolutely anything wrong, we spent a lot of money while we were there, both in their restaurant and bar, we still had more 4 days to stay and this is the way he treated us, absolutely rude .and falsely accuse me of god knows what he meant ?? and with an arrogance I never thought possible towards anyone! You can't miss him general manager, owner and...

Chateau Nova recently changed their Pet policy to no longer include Reptiles or Snakes. This was done with no warning, and with harsh, immediate consequences. Some of our group checked in earlier in the day with no issues that 1st night. However I witnessed front staff target any guest checking in, with visible tattoos if they had reptiles with them. Those that replied yes, were immediately refused a room, EVEN if they had pre booked rooms months in advance, long before any policy changes. This repeated itself over and over as members of our group were trying to check in. Eventually the front staff made a sign and placed at the front desk, they would then just point to the sign and still refused service, stating this is now our policy. One of our group had to find another safe place to leave his animals, while he stayed at the Nova as he was refused his reserved room if he brought the animals inside the building. The front desk told him that they were going to search his room, because they knew he has reptiles. Even though he placed a do not disturb sign on his door, they came in to the room when he left for the day, to search for the animals, like he was some criminal in a jail cell hiding contraband! – Which they found none; however this is an invasion of his privacy. Another of our group had checked in earlier in the day with their reptiles with no issue; however the next day when they left the hotel, they were refused entry again with their animals, and were told by the front desk staff that they must have snuck the animals in, and they are to leave immediately. This is untrue, as they had checked in earlier in the day with other front staff. There was no signage regarding reptiles at that time. When they checked in the reptiles were not hidden from staff like thieves in the night! They had to find another hotel immediately, which they did. However unfortunately there were actual thieves at that location, and their vehicle was broken into over night, in an attempt to steal it. They caused major damage to the steering column, resulting in another over night stay, a tow bill and cost of repairs. This likely would not have happened if they were not tossed out of the Nova like a dirty rag. Another of our group made sure to inspect their room prior to settling in. They removed the covers to inspect for insects, or other undesirable materials. When they pulled back the covers they found a live black beetle that was trapped under the cover. This is the same beetle that can be found all over Alberta. Staff took the bug from the guest, and moved her to another room, On its own I wouldn’t normally be writing a negative review, as that could happen any where, and most staff acted according, except one staff, they let out a screech and ran away from the counter once she saw the beetle was still alive in the bag it was placed into. Two of our group ordered the Kale soup, we discovered that some hard pieces of plastic were ground up and left in the soup. Several of these pieces were ingested before we discovered 2 large pieces that were over 2cm. The waitress did comp the 2 meals, and took the plastic to the kitchen for the staff to find out what it was. We never got an explanation after that. We also discovered that the Stock base of the Kale soup was made from Chicken stock. While this isn’t any health code violation, it wasn’t disclosed until after we had completed the meal and asked more about the preparation. While neither of the guests that ate the soup are vegetarian or vegan, or on any dietary restrictions from meat or meat by-products. We were surprised to find out that the vegetarian option had Chicken stock...

So Me and My partner stayed a night here. Checked in around 5pm or so. So we ordered Dinner from downstairs. Upon Openning my Meal, A Fruit Fly hitchhiked its way Up to Our Room from the Kitchen. (will upload Video Of It Too, will Need to Find in My Google Photos.) I didnt Eat the Meal after that. So the Next Morning when packing up to check-out. My Partner went to unplug his cell phone charger from the Wall And was Shocked! And The Charger Prongs Were Melted into the Outlet, there was Black Soot on the Outlet and my partners fingers were black where he got shocked. We Took photos of the Charger and his fingers and reported it to the front desk. The Manager was in disbelief, so went up to the Room with my Partner to investigate along with a Maintenance Man. They Documented the Incident, and then called the Head Office. And the guy on the Phone Spoke with My Partner, Apologized for the Mishap, and offered us a FreeNights stay on Our Next Visit and Free Complimentry Breakfast. They wrote down my Partners name and made a note of it. We checked out and went on our way. Our Next visit to the Hotel was About 2months later, Just in town doing some shopping and we Figured might as well use that Free Nights stay. We go to check in and The Front Desk Clerks is Some Big Old Guy who was Clearly Not Happy with His Job! And Made it Priority that He stay Seated during our Entire Conversation. We gave him my Partners Name and told him there was a note of it, Regarding a FreeNights Stay. But he Could Not find this Note or My Bfs Name Anywhere in there Books, LogBooks, Ect.. he Proceeds to Call Someone And The Guy he called Confirms my Partners Name, and Recalls the Incident. But Get This: He says No They Offered us a Discounted Rate on a One Night Stay, and Complimentary Breakfast. We were, (Pun-Intended) Shocked for the Second Time!! We tried to state That that Was Not the Original Offer.. BUT they were Not Having It. And It was the Night Clerk we were dealing with, So Felt it wasn't going to Get Anywhere... So we just Paid the Discounted Rate so we could just Get Some Rest. And The Next Morning we come down to Find the Free Breakfast, was Just Toast or Bagel we have to Toast ourselves, and Cereal.+Juice. That was our Free Breakfast!! I thought Wow, What a Joke! This was our last time staying in a Hotel. Airbnbs is The Way to Go...(I will Look through my Google Photos and Post the Pics of the Outlet and Prongs Burnt...
