AAA Chinese Restaurant & Lounge — Restaurant in Edmonton

The excellent selection of music is one of the only positive things I can say about this establishment. Very poor service over the course of the evening. For the most part everyone was ordering drinks alone. Had to track the server down to get her attention to bring more beer. I had a seafood dish which was delicious but it was painful trying to get them to tell me if they had gluten free items. In fact, one server didn't know that gluten was in wheat products and tried to tell me that certain dishes would be fine to eat, which would have actually made me ill. Prices for both food and drink were high. Especially since the venue hasn't seen a reno in decades and is a bit dreary. We were charged $2 each for very small bottles of water. Went there Friday Sept, 13th for Karaoke around 11:30 pm. The owner is fantastic. However the blonde waitress was horrible at best. When I asked for water she gave me a glass and said "there's the sink". A friend of mine had been given dirty looks and told that a tip of 20% is "mandatory" for "such a large group". She was confrontational with customers. If you want a decent tip, maybe you should actually do your job properly! I've never seen such horrible service. She ripped the menu out of a customers hand. Used to love going to this place but with a monster like her serving customers I'm surprised there's even people coming in.

I know the karaoke host doesn't work for the restaurant, he was fantastic though. Really encouraged singers, made people feel welcome. Which funny enough, the waitress was incompetent when it came...

The blonde waitress was the worst. Switched our drinks to premium halfway through, which weren't part of the special so we were charged more. She was in no way friendly, had to flag her down constantly, and then had the audacity to ask us - and the others in our group - for better tips. It was so bad it was almost comical - like we were part of some bad practical joke. I've been a server, and I wasn't great at it, but my God, I was at the very least friendly and apologetic for any errors. The food is terrible, too.
