This hotel far exceeded my expectations! They did everything right; extremely friendly and helpful staff, very clean and comfortable rooms, pet friendly and free breakfast. A big bonus for me is when hotels use the large, full sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner. I have extremely long and thick hair, and those usual tiny bottles that hotels provide you just don't cut it. This hotel uses the full sized versions, which I very much appreciate. They also don't use that awful 1 ply garbage for tissue and toilet paper... they use the nice stuff! They have comfy rooms with great television channels, free wifi, the entire hotel is spotless, smells clean and has cute decor. They also offer a few complimentary items if you forgot to pack some essentials, such as a razor or a toothbrush. One of the big things I look for in a hotel is a free breakfast, and this one did not disappoint! My usual experience with free hotel breakfast is typically not great, but this one was fantastic! They have a "make your own Belgian waffles" station, which I think is so much fun and very unique in my experience, where you use their pre-prepared batter to fry up your fresh waffles and they have all the fixings (syrup, whipped cream, berry compote), as well as a selection of breads and bagels (including gluten-free options), fruit, hard-boiled eggs, yogurts and cereals. I was very impressed! The views are also spectacular. If I ever make my way back to Vancouver Island, I will definitely be staying here again. Thank you for a...
Read moreThe new, Wyndham Gold River is a vast improvement over the previous establishment which was tired & in desperate need of renovation. With new ownership, the completely refurbished establishment is fresh, well designed, immaculately clean & has convenient amenities in the room like a mini fridge, microwave, coffee machine & electric kettle. The room was comfortable, as was the bed. The public areas are welcoming & the breakfast room is beautiful, with lots of windows looking out onto a scene of trees. The breakfast was good & the space was kept tidy by an attentive employee (thank you). I would like to recognize Gracie at the front desk. She was warm, welcoming & courteous. Her shift ended late one evening, but she was at the desk early the next morning, cheerful, professional & ready to help. She was delightful. I very much appreciated seeing Indigenous art & culture celebrated in the space & was also happy to see the use of the Nuu-chah-nulth language throughout the property, highlighting of the Mowachaht / Muchalaht First Nation culture, heritage & continued presence. The pole in front of the hotel, created by master carver Sanford Williams, is a beautiful way to welcome visitors to a wonderful place. I look forward to staying again & I can highly recommend the...
Read moreIt doesn't matter if your room is on floor 1 or floor 2, you have to take stairs. No elevator or swimming facilities, so that was pretty disappointing. Mediocre breakfast, however the area was spacious with forrest views. Friendly and helpful staff. Enjoyed the views and watched deer in the courtyard. Nice beds, bathroom, and room. Mini fridge had a dull temperature. Ice machines were running, though. Our room was a shower only bathroom. Dove products provided and was surprised to find full bottles of toiletries attached to the shower wall. Highly recommend the town, nearby activities, Uptown Coffee and statues...
