We booked our stay from Oct 12-Oct 15 2020. Unfortunately, this wasn't our first stay here which meant our expectations were a little higher based on our previous experience. Here are some of the issues we faced.
Check In We arrived at 4 and they told us check in was at 5. Although this was different then what was originally confirmed we understood because of Covid. Around 5-5:10 we went back into the office to check in and were told our place still wasn't ready and that it would take up to another hour. They offered us a soda from their bistro while waiting despite us telling them we had all our groceries for the 4 days as recommended by them. (They told us to do our groceries at home and bring it with us - ok!) Around 6:15, our place was finally ready. (please keep in mind that the rooms are not cheap and now this was two hours taken away from our holiday) When we checked in, multiple things were broken. There was garbage around the property (pretty annoying after JUST being told they were doing extra sanitation efforts) as well as some holes in the walls and some rips/breaks in the curtains. As we knew we were switching to a bigger cabin the next day, we decided to make a quick dinner, hot tub and then get to bed. (by the time we got to the cabin and got settled it was now nearly 7)
Cleanliness The next morning when we woke up, we did a quick sweep of all of the rooms as we were swapping cabins and to our surprise we found a dirty pair of underwear and socks that did not belong to us. We were all in disbelief and ultimately felt SUPER cringy. I left a note on the table asking for someone to call me about this (they didn't answer the phone) and still until now have not heard a word. After being delayed for our room to be clean to then find this, it was truly a horrible experience.
Electricity When we moved to our other cabin, it was lovely. It was a cabin owned by a family that Belair rents out. It was clean, organized and there were zero issues. However, the first day we had a power outage (started at 12). We all understand that there is nothing Belair can do but wait for Hydro updates... BUT around 6pm I finally called to ask if someone could please bring us a flashlight and some water (to flush toilets as we have now been stuck for 6 hours) I was told no at first until I asked to speak to someone else. I spoke to a guy who thought that yelling at me for asking for some basic equipment was a good idea. He told me that I was out of line for asking for these basics... He then changed his tone and told me that someone would come by with a flashlight and some water soon. Eventually someone came with a 4l bottle of water and a flashlight and we figured we'd now have to ration our water until further notice.
Around 7pm the electricity came back on but our water did not. We waited an hour and then finally called the maintenance line. The person on the phone refused to come and gave us some instructions that allowed us to fill up maybe 2? glasses of water and flush 1 of 3 toilets. He said it would take some time so we got creative with our solutions overnight. The next morning we wait for the office to open and we call again, finally they said someone (around 12) and he fixes the water. He also tells us that the steps we took the day prior were wrong and he doesn't know why someone didn't come and help us. Keep in mind we are now 24 hours without running water (during a pandemic I might add - where cleanliness is KEY). Again, this is now our second (bigger) chalet where we are paying upwards of $400 a night.
No matter who we talked to about these issues, no one seemed to care or want to help us in any way. The management staff was extremely passive and did not care about how their customers were doing.
Although we were good sports and made the absolute best of the mess we were in - we will 100% think twice before going to these cabins again and will avoid recommending it to anyone.
We stayed 2 nights in nov. We came across this "resort" through Instagram. We thought it was an amazing anniversary getaway, getaway since its a 7 hour drive from where we live here in Toronto. Once we got there, it was around 2:30 pm. The place was full with construction.Anyway, check in was 4pm per our rental contract.Turns out they changed it to 5pm because of covid cleaning. So we waited in the car.. thought I could take a nap but nope, all i hear is construction machines. I couldnt take it anymore it was around 4:05 we went back inside and asked if it was ready. The receptionist said check in is at 5:00pm and that its not ready yet. We wanted to speak to the manager, he did not want to speak with us directly. He told the receptionist just let them in. Was it ready this whole time and they pretty much lied? The receptionist wrote on a sticky note our pin to get into the pod with pointed in the direction of where to get to our pod. Normally when we stay at a hotel, they explain ALL THE AMENTIES and activites to do. We were told ABSOUTELY NOTHING. Not one thing was mentioned that was advertised on their site, social media. Nothing. Where was that cute farm? Where was everything that we could do at this resort? Whatever, I was already frustrated at this point. We started going there and well what do you know, we have to wait AGAIN. 15 minutes we had to wait because a truck was backing up on the hill we needed to drive up on to get to the pod, and it just seem like he was not going to move. After waiting again, we got to the pod. Let me say one positive thing, its was beautiful and so romantic. The view is amazing. By the time we settled down and unpacked it was 7:00 pm. The night is already going by and we were so tired from the drive and all the waiting.Since we weren't told about anything, we seen a laminated sheet that had the wifi password which i also didn't know that we had wifi. And on the same sheet it had breakfast from 8-10am for $10.50 a person in the clubhouse. So we woke up early enough to get the clubhouse for breakfast and was told that the clubhouse isnt open yet, this was around 8:20am. They said they would bring us a breakfast in about 30 minutes. We said OK fine, we will wait. They brought a basket with two mini crossiants and 2 chocolate crossiants, 1 little jar of milk, orange juice, and cereal. All this for just two people as breakfast.. what? The basket had a note saying leave outside before 11:00am after you're finished so they can collect it. No one came. It stayed there all the way until we had to leave.I remember on Instagram they promoted a bridge of lights, which again we werent told about when we got there along with everything else, i noticed it from the hot tub and wanted to check it out. We went looking for it and we couldnt find it on our own so we went to the clubhouse and the gentleman said "its usually closed but since my family is here I turned on the lights and you can follow them" Seriously? Only cause your family is here you turned the lights on?.. but we paid over a grand.Next morning we decided we needed to leave, the construction just did not make anything peaceful.. As we were leaving, we threw out our trash, which we never had to at a hotel and this is considered a resort mind you. Not a big deal, I wasn't surprised by any more disapointments. We went to the office around 8am and it was closed. So we had to wait. Luckily someone was inside and we told them we were leaving and they said our $500 security deposit will be refunded in 7 days. We left. In conclusion, this is not a resort. We wanted this to be a peaceful quiet couple vacation away from our toddlers at home.. but we were woken up by construction instead..we basically paid $1000 + for two nights to sleep in pod. That was it. We booked back in August. They promote this amazing discounts on Instagram like the most recent where its 30%off your stay with free sushi and whatever. BUT I paid full price!!!! I strongly believe we should have been reimbursed for all that we...
Read moreMy husband and I booked a 2-night stay to celebrate Saint Valentine's Day. Here are my thoughts after paying $1300 CAD:
Positive: The place is equipped with everything you need, including a kitchen, mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and complete kitchen utensils. Glasses, cutlery, and everything for cooking are provided. We even found salt and pepper. They provide 4 cups for making espresso. The dome is quite intimate, with no risks of running into neighbors. The place has two restaurants, one serving sushi and the other offering French cuisine. We had brunch at the French restaurant, and it was delicious. The night we arrived, we didn't know we had to make a reservation in advance; fortunately, there was a take-out option. Later, we were able to pick up our food from the restaurant and have dinner in the dome.
Negative: Cleanliness: At first glance, the dome appears clean, but we were disappointed to find that the duvet did not have a cover, only two flat sheets. The duvet itself was dirty with makeup residue, and the sheets showed signs of previous use. It seems that the bedding is not changed between guests. Upon entering the jacuzzi, we were greeted by an excessive amount of hair, including some from animals. As a cat owner, I can distinguish animal hair, and it was apparent that the cleaning standards were lacking. Additionally, when we removed our swimwear and left it in the room, the entire space started to smell unpleasant, like dirty feet, likely due to the water in the jacuzzi. This made us uncomfortable, and we refrained from using the jacuzzi again.
Emergency Response: One significant issue we encountered was the lack of reception or staff in the clubhouse after 7 pm. Late at night, past midnight, while my husband was in the sauna and I was taking a shower, we experienced a power outage. During winter, being without electricity meant no heating, etc. Despite leaving a message on the emergency contact number, we did not receive any attention or a return call. Eventually, my husband had to venture out in the dark, snowy conditions to find the electrical panel located beneath the dome. Fortunately, he was able to resolve the issue. It was only 12 hours later, after we had returned to Montreal, that someone from emergency services called to inquire about the incident.
Parking: One inconvenience is the lack of parking near the dome. Guests have to walk a couple meters with their luggage along a snowy and icy path. The parking area is located next to the clubhouse.
Heating: On the night we arrived at the dome, the temperature outside was -17 degrees Celsius, and unfortunately, the heating was not turned on. As a result, the dome was freezing, making it extremely challenging to get a good night's sleep in such cold conditions. It wasn't until the next morning that the temperature inside became comfortable. It would be advisable for the management to ensure that the heating is turned on a few hours before the guests arrive, especially during winter, to avoid discomfort. I assume the same consideration would apply in the summer months. Proper temperature control upon guest arrival is crucial for a pleasant and cozy stay, regardless of the season
Please be aware: -Despite the dome having a huge curtain that helps block out light, there is a window or a small circle that prevents sleep after dawn. You will have the sun shining on your face very early in the morning. Upon check-in, they will request a deposit of $500, which is released 8 days later. We checked in on the 14th, and upon checking out today (February 16th), the reception informed us that the deposit will be released on February 21st. Upon entering the shower, despite closing the door, water seeps through and can potentially wet the bed and the bathroom. It is necessary to place a towel to block the door and absorb the water. there is a sharp thing inside the sauna. It’s my fault to touch the wall and I cutted...
