This is an completely honest and "real" review of the Ramada by Wyndham Medicine Hat. I book many hotels for our Senior Mens slo-pitch team and this is by far the WORST place we have ever stayed in. (please remember these men and women are all over 70 years old) I can't even believe Wyndham puts their name on this hotel. I booked 5 rooms in May of 2024 for our ball tournament in July thinking the rate with comparing the reviews at the time was a good deal. Some of the players arrived before I did and I started receiving calls and messages of how horrible this place was. I was still on the road getting there and thinking I'm sure they are over exaggerating. Upon checking in the front staff were kind and helpful. We drove to the side of the hotel in which our room was closest. Didn't realize this hotel did not have an elevator(my issue) for not making sure of this. My husband and I got to our room and when I opened the door the smell of this room was sickening. I can't even describe what it was maybe between dirty carpet but you know when something goes rotten and you can't find it that is what it smelled like it. Then walking into the room I was disgusted. The carpet, the chair, the pull out couch were so dirty that they should have been all out by the trash bin. I got ahold of the others that were there checked out their rooms and believe it or not I had the "better" of the rooms. Their rooms were horrific. (i'm not exaggerating). I felt extremely bad for booking at this place and at a rate of $125/night +taxes was WAY overpriced. The outside stairwells were littered as well with cigarette butts(a broom goes a long way. I looked online to see what the prices were on the Friday when we got there and low and behold they were only $106/night. So I thought I would at least try and get our 2nd night(Saturday) at the discounted rate. I wanted them to discount our first night as well. I talked to the front desk about the prices that were listed. They said NO they were not that that they were $159/night. Thankfully I took a screen shot of the prices when I did look directly on the Ramada Medicine Hat site. So the front desk then said they couldn't do anything about it. I would have to contact the manager "Harp". They wouldn't give me a phone number so all I had was an email. So then I went back to my smelly room and sent Harp an email this was Friday July 5th. Heard nothing. Went back the next morning (Saturday July 6th)to see if Harp was on site he was not. Mentioned to the front desk that to get the rate of $106 I could cancel all the rooms and rebook them as it was in the time frame. The gentleman at the front desk told me not to do that. That Harp would help me out with this matter and that he would be in after 2PM so in good faith I waited. Well can you guess he wasn't around and the front desk couldn't help me with trying to get an adjustment on at least our second night. This was a difference basically of $20/room. I again was told to contact Harp (which I did again). I have contacted "Wyndham" directly and because these hotels are individually owned I had to bring my concerns to the manager of the hotel directly. I tried to explain to them that the manager Harp doesn't contact you back. Today's date of writing this review is July 27th and he has yet to contact me directly. I received an email from (Rana) one of the front desk members stating in their email that I did not highlight any issues specific to housekeeping. That is not true. When I first went down on the Friday night I told them about the smell and how dirty and disgusting the room was. This was also the same gentleman that told me to talk to Harp that he would be the only person to be able to help me. Which is really ironic as the email he sent states "they could offer me a discount for my next stay with them". I will NEVER stay here again and I will also send emails to all my ball contacts to avoid this hotel or to at least watch the rates as the rate should be no more than $99/night. YOUR RESPONSE IS A LIE...
Read moreThe rooms look NOTHING like the new updated rooms on the website. Every room in our sports group was old, dirty, and dated. One even smelled of cigarette smoke. They were at least 10 years older than it seemed. Don't be fooled by them calling it a hotel either, its a motel. No Elevators, and carrying a wagonload of sports equipment up to our room was terrible. I would call it false advertising. The beds were dirty and had weird stains on them, from boots or shoes? I asked for clean sheets to be brought up and complained about the stains, and of the 4 he brought up 2 had weird oil or food stains on them too. The remote didn't have a battery cover and didn't work with the TV, I managed to turn it on by hand and it was logged into some guy named Justin's Netflix account. I asked front desk, he came quickly but couldn't figure out the tv either. Eventually he got the remote to change channels but it quit working again right after he left. The lights above the sink were FILTHY, the bathroom needs a serious redo as the faucet and shower head were coming out of the wall and the seals were falling out and moldy. The wall above the toilet had stuff stuck to it. The curtains were so gross and had a huge tear in it. The seals on the doors are non existent so the room was over taken by chlorine smell from the one entrance, and the other door let so much cold air in from outside the heater inside had to be running high constantly to barely keep up. The sauna had ants. Breakfast, we went down and there was 2 sausages and like 1/4 cup of eggs, which were ice cold. We had to look around for the breakfast host and ask if there was more food coming out, and when it did come out it was cold still. The pool had screaming groups in it an hour past close, and when us and others tried to call the front desk to ask them to shut it down no one would answer the phone and the front door was locked saying they were gone temporarily. Eventually someone came and got it all shut down at nearly 11pm. Staff did shovel the sidewalks after a huge snowfall, but didn't touch the stairs and it became very dangerous to use them yet alone carry things up and down them. Cops even came one night and removed a customer from the rooms below us. When checking out the staff didn't ask how our stay was or anything. I mentioned our room was dirty and sucked, and he just smiled and said have a nice day. No apology or any sort of acknowledgment that it would be dealt with.
The only pros to this hotel: Good location, pool was warm and hottub worked.
This hotel is NOTHING compared to the other Ramadas we stay at. This was like a fleabag motel that they updated the sign and siding on. I would give no...
Read moreI had the oppertunity to stay at this Ramada, and it was an ok experience, I was already having a rough day with travel and ect so arriving late. I did the pre-check in so that if there was anything was to happen I could just grab my key and go..
When arriving I go to grab my key and I still had to provide my Id which I seemed to have misplaced, then a friend who had paid for my room as a nice gesture did tell me I needed to provide 200 cash for insurance purposes. So I tried to go to the ATM that was out of service, so then was instructed to go to the hoetel beside us to use thier atm.. Because they couldnt use my debit card for the money..
We got that sorted out got the Key and then found that the keys werent working, went back 2 times to get new keys to when we got a different room on the second floor... Being a person with mobility issues it wasn't the best option but at this time I just wanted to get in and go to sleep.
Entering the room it was a mini suite with 2 beds stove, fridge and a huge open area I guess they were thinking I was gonna be hosting a Rave or something....
It seemed to be very clean and had a hotel room smell..... we all know that smell..
Get into the bathroom to have a shower looked down there was not slip mat for the tub and well the bottom of the tub was coated in blck hair. Ewwww... So I forgon theshower and headed to bed....
The bed was soft had 3 types of pillows I guess for each type of sleeper which was amazing.... Score points for that one....
I have to say it was not quiet on 13 ave this weekend it seems that its a hot place for drag raacing street cars and low hanging balls on trucks... I digress... I just needed to sleep....
So now I am done with the arjuious tasks that needed to be done and heading home... I still had to wait for a while to get my 200 bucks back as front desk had to che3ck to maksure our rave didn't do any damage.... Joking....
Got my deposit back and now heading home.... If you are looking for a ok stay I say its not to bad.... I would stay there again...
