I booked this hotel at the same time I made 3 other reservations, all done online, like I have done for years. Our initial night was fine, we stayed before going to Cuba. We also booked the hotel for the night we returned. You are advised to call when arriving so the shuttle will get you. We did this as we were going through customs and when we walked outside, the shuttle came about 5 mins later. I have a disability so am unable to move quickly, and as we moved to the shuttle where it parked, 6 other people came from inside the airport and rushed in front of us and filled the shuttle. I overheard them say "we didn't even have to call". There needs to be a better system in place...if you are told to call, then pick up people in the order they call, not by whoever can stamped the fasted. Once we arrived, we were told the room we booked was not available because when we reserved, there was no credit card on file...they advised us they graciously held a room for us even though we didn't do what we were supposed to..we were scolded because we did not provide a credit card number and did not call before 6 (I am sorry, we were in the air on our return flight). We explained you cannot even book a room online without a credit card and in the 8 years we have been booking online this has never happened before. I even showed the print out of our reservation, showing the credit card. There was no apology, just us being advised how graciously they still kept a room for us and they would even honour our original price. The room we wanted had 2 beds because of my disabilities and the one they held for us had one queen size...there was severe discomfort for us. I think we may have been a little understanding if there had been any empathy or remorse shown, instead of being made to feel like we should...
Read moreIf you are a woman travelling alone I would highly recommend you avoid this hotel. The environment when I arrived, the condition of my room and the overall lack of perceived safety led me to immediately depart and find alternative lodgings.
For the room specifically, the deadbolt did not function properly as it was difficult to close, and when it did reach the lock it did not feel secure. There was also a rip in one of the curtains, and stains on the bed spread.
Additionally, when I was provided with my room key, an employee, who I had not initially realized worked there chose to leave the front desk at the same time as me and told me he was also going to the same floor after hearing my room number. I attempted to pause and allow him to take the elevator alone but he insisted that I join him because he had needed to check something on that floor. There was a language barrier there and I had believed he meant he was checking my room, but he did not. While this could have been and was likely harmless, as a female solo traveller it caused me to be greatly uncomfortable, and partnered with trouble with the deadbolt I knew I would not be able to sleep if it attempted to stay.
My concerns felt confirmed when departing there were two police cars and officers were entering the hotel and there seemed to be a very uneasy environment, so much so that my Uber driver felt worried enough when I was delayed for a moment to leave his car to come look for me.
Update: I received a refund, but the interaction with the manager was not a positive one as he attempted to question my actions in a condescending manner. Please consider alternative options near...
Read moreMy husband and I ended up trying to book a hotel for a night due to layover time and exhaustion of international flights. We picked this hotel because saw some decent reviews on google for a decent price. Was able to get the shuttle to pick us up from the airport in a timely manner. Walked into the lobby and it looked decent with small pond and fountain and clean area. So far we were off to a good start and staff was friendly. We got to our room and the smell was instant, it was like stale but sour. We were so tired from travel we decided to just open the window and sleep. I opened the window but there was no screen so we decided not to keep it open for safety reasons because we were on the first floor. The mirror on the wall looked like it was ripped off the wall. I took off my shoes and walked to the bathroom, I walked back to the bed and sat down. I started to take off my socks and realized the bottoms were wet. I thought to myself, did my feet sweat that much on the flight? I looked at the floor and all of the carpet was wet, not just one section. The carpet also had numerous different kind of stains. Everything was so disgusting, but again we were so tired. Due to the conditions ,we used our blanket from our flight I accidentally had and slept on top of it and used our winter jackets as a blanket. We had to get up early for our connecting flight, my husband tried using the toilet and it wouldn’t flush. I’ve never had so many horrible and gross things happen in a hotel in one night. When we checked out we tried to address it with the front desk and he gave us an email to contact. This hotel should have a...
