mixed review. have positive points but also things that bug me , this is why it’s only 3 stars.
hotel is a quick drive to town centre, easy to get to, has lots of parking
stayed with family, checked in at the same time. fam got a view of the pool and the mountains, we got a view of trees and parking garage entry, no big deal, we’ll just hang outside and enjoy the outdoors. that’s the point of the trip to pemberton. next time, have to remember to ask
staff are friendly but don’t really have the ability to help us change rooms. we were told we’d have to wait till morning. doesn’t seem like a good process or policy to not empower staff to make changes. i don’t understand this.
no king size beds…my chubby body has to make do with a queen. hopefully i don’t get elbowed by my husband later when he turns
bed and pillows are not the most comfortable. in contrast, staybridge suites in seattle, which is also a 3-star hotel has surprisingly really comfortable beds and pillows. nudge to management to invest in bigger and better quality beds :)
papers provided with info on wifi password, where to eat etc were helpful
the glazing in the shower isn’t big enough to protect the rest of the bathroom from water spraying everywhere. the bathroom floor also received a shower while i showered
the shower handles are a brain teaser. you have to find the right combo to turn the shower off. why is this built like this?
there was a spider in the shower 😱 i had to help the not-so-little one find another room so i bundled up toilet paper and made a giant toilet paper space ship for it. it landed in the hallway. and the toilet paper somehow disappeared. kudos to staff for being ninjas or thanks to another guest for cleaning. but now i keep thinking about spiders before sleeping. what if my bathroom spider had other spider friends who live in the bedroom or kitchen?
when i asked for extra towels, staff member on night shift said i can’t use bath towels on the floor. « you know you’re not supposed to use them on the floor, right? » noted, will just slip around the bathroom for next time :)
we can hear other guests in other rooms, laughing, shrieking, etc. maybe the sound travels through the vents? they can probably hear us too (sorry i have a loud voice)
hotel is dog-friendly and even has a dog-washing station. could be back just for this amenity.
pool and hot tub! with a view of the mountains! the pool area is beautiful.
cute little kitchen in the studio room. has everything you need to make a quick meal. just want to write no oven / dishwasher (don’t come for me)
all in all, it’s not the greatest hotel. but for the price, it’s definitetly cheaper than whistler (or elswhere in bc?). it seems like it’s doing it’s best to provide a good...
Read moreI'm currently in room 205 right now writing this.(orginally posted Aug 28th) I can not recommend staying in Whistler BC over this location more. Don't stay here. Firstly I have to attempt fixing a serious booking fiasco I had at the front desk. I called around 5pm earlier today to request an additional night on my stay or a late check out. I was told I would be charged for an additional night, my name, information, phone number, booking details were all recited to me by the female front desk person. They clearly had access to my information and booking. I was told yes, I had an additional night and would check out on the 29th. Done. We finished our drive to Pemberton and arrived and I was told the following by front desk: There was no record of my call or request None of my booking details were updated They were fully booked for the 29th They could not even Authorize an extended check out for us out of courtesy, or customer service. I have a record of the call, and the time it was made. I have a weddinv tomorrow that I need to attend at 845. I was told be at check in for 8am to contest with a manager about the extension and hope there's availability. There is no hospitality, customer service or basic book keeping to be found here. It was $345 a night to book at this so called resort. You can get a great accommodation in Whistler which is 30 mins or so out. Do that. I'll post an update once I'm able to connect with a manager. They even said they would kick out my partner at 11am check out if I didn't come talk to them. No professionalism whatsoever. I would have happily taken no for an answer and made other arrangements if the female front desk staff had just said "no, we're fully booked". Honestly I'd just spend the additional cash on another place for another night. Don't book here. Get the name of the staff person you speak to.
Update: we checked out the same night. Let me be clear. This was a business trip. I had a client booking at 7am. There was no way I'd be able to get this mess sorted and that's even if there was room for us Sunday.
I'm requesting a refund via Booking.com. we ended up staying in Whistler, had a fantastic stay there at the Listel Hotel. The stark contrast in customer service was a pleasant surprise after the horrible experience with the Pemberton valley lodge.
Save yourself the overpriced stay. Drive up...
Read moreStayed 3 nights and 4 days at the lodge while visiting family in Pemberton in early October. The free, underground, 80-100 space parking lot never had more than 5 cars day or night during this time. The parking spaces were small with concrete support pillars every second space. Arriving back late on our final night in our rental car, I straddled the line between two spaces near the elevator in this near empty lot. We were up early the next morning for a long drive to the Vancouver airport for our flight home to Savannah. When we got to our car, a letter announcing that we had broken the rule about taking up more than one parking space and were subject to a "fine". I went back in to the desk and the young night clerk checked the computer and said that a $50 extra charge had been added to our bill. she said it had not yet been sent to the credit card company but that only the manager could adjust it. I spoke to the most unfriendly manager and she announced that since we had broken the rule, she would not remove the "fine"from the bill. I tried to reason with her given that the lot was virtually empty but she wouldn't budge. She said the penalty was clearly posted on signs in the parking garage. I went back to the garage and could find no such sign. My wife and I then told her what we thought of her reasonableness and customer service and she asked us both to leave the building. She apparently doesn't handle criticism well.
Before leaving the building, I went back to our room and the door key card still worked. I took back the $50 gratuity for housekeeping that I had left on the bedside table. I went back to the front desk and asked the manager to please explain to the housekeeping lady that I had used her tip to pay the manager's "fine". I was once again asked to leave the building. On exiting, I saw a small sign outside the garage entrance listing rules of proper garage etiquette and announcing that infractions could result in fines or towing.
On returning home I went online and checked my VISA account. The bill submitted was $50 more than the amount quoted on our reservation confirmation.
We won't be...
