We booked a cabin for two couples and a dog. I was torn whether to gibpve this experience one star or two. When we arrived they did not have our reservation and they said no cabins were available. After I described who I talked to and the conversation the woman at the reception desk said that he was a waiter and had left her a note with our reservation. She then said she left us a voice mail informing a cabin was not available. I checked my voice mail in the lobby and there was no message but I did notice a recent call with an unfamiliar number with as it turned out an exchange for that area. We took a room with two tired queen size beds since we didn't know of other dog friendly places in the area. Room appeared clean and was a good size. There were only two bath towels though, one on each bed. The toilet had an issue and the only way to get it to fill after flushing was to stick your hand in the tank because the rubber part was disintegrating. No one was at the front desk so I told a woman in an office across from the desk. She jotted down our room # and said it might take awhile. No one ever showed up. My husband and I used the toilet down by the restaurant because that part was in bad shape. He also pointed out to me the exhaust fan one the bathroom was totally clogged with dust and the ceiling light looked ready to fall off with exposed wires. We had to go searching for towels and someone in the bar helped us with that. Upon checkout, the other couple were paying for the room. When asked how was our stay, she told them about the toilet never being fixed. The reply from the woman at the front desk was: "will that be Visa or...

It's right next to an exterior door, so lots of noise from people coming in and out from the parking lot to the hallway outside our room. The walls are pretty thin, so I can hear people right outside on the phone (GO TO YOUR ROOM). The bathtub doesn't drain really well as you're showering either. The main thing is the noise, though. The water running in the next room is so loud I had to turn up the TV. It's unfortunate and hopefully will be quieter later at night. I can't blame the motel for loud guests, but people should know what to expect, at least in the part of the motel we're in. On the positive side, the room was clean, and the staff we dealt with (so far)...
Read moreStayed here for one night while in Port au Choix. This is a large one story building with many rooms, a restaurant and a bar.
When we first got here, it seemed like a mediocre motel. Nothing special, just someplace for working people to stay in between jobs.
However, this place turned out to be a really good time. After sitting a the bar for the while talking to the bartender and the owner, the place began to fill up with people. It was a "local talent" night, so it seemed everyone in town was there after a few hours drinking, taking turns at the mic and socializing. Ended up spending the entire night at the bar and drank way more than I should have. :)
Definitely not someplace to judge by first...
