I needed a hotel for a week for work. There are 3 hotels near where I was working but this was within walking distance and the reviews were pretty good although most reviews were from people that seemed to be staying overnight only whereas I was there for a week. The hotel was nice and quiet which is a big thing for me as I need to go to bed early for work and I am a super light sleeper. I was on the second floor so it was a bit of a trek with my luggage or any large items I had purchased during the week but the positive is that it was a nice way to get in more steps and a bit of a workout with all my luggage. The carpeting in the halls is kind of old but the room did not have any carpet and the floor looked nice and clean as well as the rest of the room. I brought a fan to drown out any noise and I wear earplugs. Thankfully I did because the only negative I can say is that the AC was noisy but it wasn’t steady it was more whooshing as if something was loose so the fan I brought drowned out the noise. I also could have requested another room or for someone to check the AC so it might have been a quick fix. The people I spoke with while there for check in and check out were very nice and I was even able to converse in English with a very nice girl on Saturday August 16th when I left a little after 6am. Bonus was the Cage aux Sports restaurant right there especially for my first night as it was about an 8 hour drive to get there and I didn’t have to go far for supper. They actually brought the food I ordered up to the room as I just wanted to relax after that drive. There were also many restaurants and stores within walking distance, too. Other work colleagues that were in another hotel had told me it wasn’t very nice where they were so I am glad I chose well. If I was to go back, I would not hesitate to choose this...
Read moreThis is the first time ever in my life, when staying at a hotel, that I was told I would have to leave $100 deposit (placed in an envelope by staff who registered me in upon check in). Thinking back, I should've asked for a receipt. The next morning when checking out, I mentioned to the different staff, my deposit. She looked confused for a moment and then I guess, it came back to her about their deposit plan. She said, "Oh, yes," and knew exactly where the envelope (among others) was kept. Wonder how many deposits have been forgotten by hotel guests the next morning? And then in front of me, directed an employee to go check the room I stayed in to ensure it was left in satisfactory condition before I got my deposit back. I've never heard of this before and will not be returning to this hotel. Another tip, because you are a hotel serving guests from all over, the staff should be bilingual to accommodate people who don't...
Read moreThe restaurant in the hotel did not open until 4:00 pm on a Sunday. We went around 4:30, had an appetizer and a few drinks. Asked what time they served dinner until and the bartender said they serve until 8:30 and the bar is open until 10:00 pm. We went to our room to freshen up after a long day of snowmobiling. Went to dinner at 8:20 and they said they were closed. I asked if I could do take out and they said no, the kitchen staff had left. We went to that hotel specifically because they had a restaurant and then we could not even have dinner. Then they are closed on Mondays so no breakfast either! They were open for 4 hours - why...
