Smoke alarm issues early morning hours. Woke us up at 5 am. Stay May 15 to May 16, 2025. No staff available at that hour to remedy it. We stayed in this hotel when we were moving across Canada with a rental van. It was a very long road trip so getting some rest was top priority. Unfortunately the smoke alarm starting going off at 5am though no smoke. I don't know if it was malfunctioning or the batteries were out but the batteries were unaccessible. We immediately called the front desk but the staff was on an extended break apparently and nobody was available for about 30 minutes. Needless to say our sleep was cut short by several hours. The staff finally showed up after about 30 minutes and tore the smoke alarm out of the ceiling and I don't know if other guests were woken up by the commotion but probably. We asked Days inn for compensation at about 8 or 9 am that day in person. The manager was surly and said that he would not compensate us. He explaind that this was a trip we paid for using frequent flyer points. Yes that is true we spent a great many frequent flyer points to stay at this hotel. The surly manager told us to call the frequent flyer loyalty company and I began a process which took months of phone calls back and forth and then the frequent flyer loyalty company said that Days inn refuses any compensation. This is a nice hotel but if something goes wrong, it will go very wrong and nobody will...
Read moreMy son and I flew to Toronto to rescue a dog and stayed here on the drive back to Nova Scotia. The well-appointed and very clean cottage (# 308) was perfect for our one night stay. Lovely property, well-removed from the main building, with lots of green space (actually it white space, given it was January) to exercise the dog.
There’d been snow overnight and the staff were plowing and had cleared the steps and walkway at our cottage in the early morning hours, long before we had to leave. The night-shift manager was very accommodating, given our reservation had been mis-booked and even though I had called to fix it, there was no record of my call. He promptly got his manager on the phone to sort it out, so I wasn’t double-charged.
Great spot, not too far from the main highway, open-concept with one bedroom and a pull-out sofa-bed, fully stocked kitchenette with microwave, stove (with an oven) and a standard-sized fridge, along with a full bath. Heat pump kept the entire space warm & cozy on a very cold and windy winter night.
I highly recommend Days Inn by Wyndham in Riviere-du-Loup and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again if the opportunity were to arise. Anyone travelling with pets for a short or long-term stay should definitely put this place on their list of places to stay in this area. Can’t imagine there’d be better accommodations nearby!...
Read moreDespite many of the poor reviews, we just needed a place to lay our heads for one night, so decided to stay here. We dealt with two staff members - the morning person spoke fluent English, the evening guy, spoke very little and made very poor attempts to guide us to the somewhat circuitous route to our room. The room itself, albeit dated, was actually cleaner than we anticipated. The king size bed was good, and slightly larger than the washroom. In the morning when we opened the balcony door, the view of the river was lovely, but the actual screen door fell right off. The fridge contained the remains of the yogurt parfait from someone else’s free breakfast, which was included in the room price. There was a strange sort of chemical smell in the room, which we assumed may have been as a result of whatever cleaning materials had been used. Anyone with an environmental allergy would have very likely been quite uncomfortable. We decided to skip the pre-packaged breakfast and instead had a lovely breakfast of homemade whole wheat waffles with real maple syrup, a fresh fruit cup and delicious coffee at Café de la Brûlerie de Rivière-du-Loup. Service was excellent, and included two free coffees...
