I've stayed at Mamquam River Campground quite a few times, including for events. This is a large campsite a short throw away from central Squamish. You can easily bike to downtown or to Smoke Bluffs for climbing. There are a number of drive-in sites and also more private walk-in sites near the road. From the back of the campground there is easy access to the river. When there is no fire ban, firewood is for sale by the wheelbarrow ($10 last time I bought, maybe more now). There are two sets of clean outhouses near the camper trailers and near the walk-in sites towards the back. They have toilet paper and hand sanitizer. However, there is no running water at the campsite. You have to bring your own. The community center just down the road could be a good place to fill up. Overall a super good campsite and my first option when camping in Squamish. It is also operated as a non-profit for the Mamquam River Access Society, so your money is going to a good place. Many of the hired staff are young people too.

We've stayed at Mamquam River Campground 4 times now and it's been a great, friendly and intimate camping experience. Many thanks to our host Patrick for providing a welcoming and accommodating well managed campground. The sites are clean and nicely maintained, with nice even tent sites on soft woodchip areas; Patrick and his helpers do a really great job. The location in Squamish is great for our kids to get out on their bikes to explore the local area. Being next to Mamquam river is great for trying your luck at fishing. Access to Squamish ameneites and all the other outdoor areas around Squamish makes Mamquam River Campground a great place to camp. Highly recommended.

Very interesting campground. I didn't like that it was first come first served as some of the campsites are terrible and some are great. You also can't guarantee that you'll get two campsites next to each other if you book two. The drive in sites have no privacy, they're basically all crammed next to each other around the carpark. The walk in sites have a lot more privacy. Strange that there's no water here but it has extremely clean pit toilets. You also are forced to buy firewood here but it's an extremely good price. I'd only recommend coming here if you just need a place to sleep for a night and don't plan on staying long.

First of all, this campground is perfect for folks who LOVE traditional, rustic camping in tents without showers, water, and electricity. At least it was so when we visited in 2020. Second, it is very affordable, and most of the time, there are always spots available. Third, co-op campsite operators are super awesome and chill. This spot provided a very cool and memorable camping adventure for me and two of my friends. We enjoyed nature hard and had lots of fun here. We were away most of a day, going around the river and forest, and stayed up until 1 a.m. to talk next to the fire and gase at the stars. We were away from most of the other camp lots. We were the furthest ones, so I doubt we bothered anyone. Many people were up at least until 12 am. Me and my friend were lucky, we booked at the time when there were no too crazy, loud groups showed up. I guess for some, we were these patiers. We tried to be respectful, quiet, and always cleaned all messes. Very safe campground near the road but feels secluded. No sounds of traffic or road were reaching us. At night, stars were clearly seen since there were no large lightsources present anywhere on or around the area. Most camping lots are located in the outgrowth of trees and bushes, hidden and distanced from the inner campground road. There are parking spaces on most camping spots, plus there is a separate parking lot. Lunch tables with benches, steel locking storage, and fire pits are present on each lot. We went in the beginning of September, so it were some chilly nights and mornings, but we were prepared. When we visited, there was no water connected on the campsite, so the supply of water for drinking and dishwashing has to be taken for a trip. At least 3-4 large office cooler bottles have to be taken for 3 people to stay for 4 days. Also, take a couple of powerbanks for cellphones. But you do not need to use them at all during your stay. There are a bunch of things to do. Route to the Mamquam River was literally 6 mins away slowly walking from the campsite. Very nice stony-sandy shore where you can dip in and swim every morning. Crystal mountain water is refreshing, even though it is cold. I am very, very pleased with our experience there. We enjoyed it so much, we did not want to go back to the city, wanted to extend our trip and stay for another 3 days.😄 when it was time for us to leave, we cleaned our capsite prestine for other people. Be respectful to others. People who want to experience rustic, old-style camping come to the Mamquam River Campground.👍 Thanks for...

I had to update my review after spending a longer duration I’ve experienced some unpleasant cons. The pros is it’s cheap. Super cheap place to stay and they close the gate to traffic at 10 pm . The cons are long. You won’t hear generators but if you have dogs the gun shooting range across the way could be a problem. When this place is full it is a very strong youth hostel vibe .

These campers are very selfish and inconsiderate. Quiet times are 10 pm but nothing is really done to enforce that, expect midnight for human noise to die down. People open and slam car doors literally all night long and walk around and talk. They don’t seem to care how sound travels one bit. They have headlamps on and those are shining in everyone’s windows all hours. The tent sites are in the back so they walk to their car up by the rvs and car campers and get things out of their cars and need to open every door and slam every door many times and instead of manually locking their door they use the loud phob so everyone can hear it all hours. I know it sounds like I’m exaggerating but this happened so many times . I couldn’t imagine having to open all my doors and close them so many times in the pitch black of the night . Midnight, 2 am anytime.

This place works great if you just need cheap place to stay , don’t need hookups and are a very strong sleeper.

These people who stay here don’t have much camping etiquette and I was in site 62 and one night site 61 had a group of ten partying outside their tent until late and they kept walking through my site ! I find that to be very rude. It’s considered trespassing if I’ve rented the plot for the night now their walking through it. Again headlamps on flashing into windows . Foot steps in gravel through the night sounds amazing by the way passing your rv . Conversation right by your window at 2 am. I was here for 6 nights total. First two nights were so great until it got full and more nuts with just etiquette never existing

I think it’s a huge negative tent campers have their cars up front by the drive in sites . They seem to be super unorganized and remember they forgot a bunch of things they need in their cars after midnight and that that’s a good time to look for them and the entire campground will hear it . It’s really bizarre because you can’t possibly imagine it’s true until you stay a night and witness for yourself

Nobody respects personal space here knowing you’re in your rv home and nobody respects...

The campsite itself was wonderful and relatively cheap. However the thing that ended our experience pretty negatively was a horrible encounter with the campsite manager Patrick. Our group of 10 reserved the campsite large enough to hold all of us and we made an effort to keep the noise down so we wouldn’t be bothering the rest of the campers. The last night of our stay, Patrick came to our site at 10 pm, pointing his flashlight at us and telling us we were making too much noise (even though he preceded by mentioning that the curfew was 11pm). We apologized and told him we would be much more quiet. Ignoring our apology, he then proceeded to look around and see that there was food and cans on the picnic tables at our site and told us in a very patronizing way that we were super messy and disrespectful and irresponsible because there could be bears around. This was completely unfounded because every other night we had cleaned up before going to bed. In this case, we had just finished eating dinner so it is understandable that there may still be dishes and cans out. There was also a water pack to put out fires right next to our site that we assumed we could use. We used some of it the previous night to put out the fire embers before going to bed because we figured it would be dangerous to just leave a fire unattended while we were sleeping. When he saw that we used some of the water, he got very angry and told us that we were incredibly disrespectful for using the emergency water supply to put out fires. Firstly, this tiny water pack would not be enough to put out a fire any larger than a small campfire. Secondly, we assumed every campsite had a water pack to put out their campfires so it truly was an honest mistake. He also saw that we were burning a log that we had found on the ground because the small slivers of wood we bought from the campsite were not enough to build a lasting fire. Seeing this, he repeatedly told us that we were “burning his forest” and wanted us to leave. Throughout this monologue, Patrick did not let us have one word in and basically shamed us for 5 minutes straight, refusing to listen to what we had to say. All in all, this experience left us all with a very sour taste in our mouths. I would not recommend this campsite for the sole reason that I would not wish for anyone to be treated the way my...
